what? Lots of engines are worth many multiple times what some cars are worth. Not sure the m156 is worth more than the c350 but it would be close in many cases

A $90,000 car is not entry level by any means.

I have an E350 and a C63 and there is no comparison. The AMG is an entirely different animal.

Just look at some of the dealer quotes on this forum showing what a crate M156 from Affalterbach costs. I think the infamous R63 guy was quoted $60k. ($57k - https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-cul...-57000-repair/)

For that, you can get a new C43 @ $55k MSRP with change for mods, 85% of a new C63 starting @ $67k MSRP, or maybe 4 or 5 used C350s.

The M156 is a special engine, as evidenced by AMG continuing to use it in many racing series, even in their brand new recently-unveiled GT3 class car. And with that racing heritage and reputation for endurance, it’s also one of the more expensive crate engines you can buy.

Yeah actually now that you say that I remember a buddy making a kit car enquired about an m156 when they first came out and was quoted ~$55,000 I can see a c350 being more than that when new

Just wanted to add to the conversation and support your comment. The wheelbase is 2/10" (5 mm) longer according to the MB Manual. The front fenders and hood are also of a different dimension than standard issue W204.

Can this please be the last thing I ever have to see emerge from this guy's piehole?

The "C" class denotes MB's 'lower end', yes. But those three little letters on the other side of the trunk mean something very, very important.

What are you comparing? Are you implying speed is the only determination of what "class" a car is in? Wow, that's great, a 20k Ford Mustang GT is a higher "class" than your c63. LOL

Please, for the love of God, go purchase a Ford Mustang and join a Ford forum. I'm begging you.

You clearly have C63 envy and are trying to make a C63 AMG equal (in your mind) to your C350. It is not. It will never be... no matter what AMG parts you attempt to bolt onto it.

Oh, and when you buy your Mustang LX and try to tell the other Mustang owners that it's really like a Shelby GT500, please tell them all they can thank Bones.

I know everyone keeps saying don't feed the troll, but geez, this idiot is pretty entertaining. His envy is so strong it actually makes his replies kinda fun to read! "Whatever will he say next!"

I really liked the part about a $20k Mustang!

Seconded. I had a C350 for a daily-driver prior to the C63. In all practical senses, the only thing that feels the same is the operation of the radio. The two cars might as well be from different planets.

I'm a converted porschephile (still kinda am), and one of my friends who is purely a P-car guy drove my C350, and then recently my 63. Never said a kind word about the C350, but is now looking for a C63 because he "needs that in his life".

I’ve hated my E350 coupe ever since I drove it off the dealer lot in 2012. I can’t say anything negative about the driving experience in my 63! It’s amazing how different they are on the road.

I’m not only comparing speed, but the exclusivity factor, on road handling characteristics, the growl of the hand build engine, etc.

A C350, while a great car, will never be in the same league as a C63. Drive both and you’ll know. Post up some pictures of whatever vehicle you decide to buy even if it’s a 6 banger Mustang. Look forward to it!

Not sure how you think I have "envy" to get the c63. I don't own neither cars, but I am looking to buy a w204 c class to thrash around on track and autoX. As per my original post, I merely wanted to know the difference between the two cars, and coming from a completely different car other than the C class, I wanted some insight as to the real differences between the c63 and c350.

Does any of you have your spare stock C63 mufflers? I'm looking to buy some stock C63 mufflers to put onto my C350 for better exhaust note. If so, how much are you willing to sell yours?

Thanks!/QUOTE]

Then why did you post another thread looking for mufflers for YOUR C350?

I am in the same boat. Stuck in the office on a beautiful day and this has been pretty decent entertainment for the past few days. Does seem he may have sold his 350 after trying hard to make it feel like a monster... and now he wants to try again maybe? Says he has a 718, but who knows. Either way, good fun!

I've actually sold my 718 and got a much better car now. Not sure why you guys think this is a troll, genuinely wanted to know the differences between w204 c350 and c63, as I really enjoyed the w204 and wanted to purchase another one along with my current car.

Na, C250 is really where the gold is at. Way lighter with 2 less cylinders than the 350. It's really the best one of them all. Most even come with the audio 20 that means less weight in speakers and no amplifier. If you're lucky you can find one with manual seats and roll up windows.

Yea the C250 probably can outperform the c63 at the track with the appropriate mods. The c63 is so nose heavy with the large engine, it was never designed to track. Think about it; AMG took a family sedan chassis and dropped a large motor in it, it is not designed from the ground up like an amg gts that's built for the HPDE.
