Modded Exhaust & Warranty...

I currently have the resonators removed but I would like to go louder, if I were to remove the secondary cats, how likely would it be that this mod voids warranty?
I think in most cases they have to prove that the mod causes the fault, what could the secondary cat removal fault in the future?

Removing the secondary cats would only void emissions warranty. Being that the secondary cats are post O2 sensors, removing them wouldn't trigger the CEL, or foul out the O2 sensors. That being said, if you live in a state with SMOG, the car would fail the visual inspection. The Magnuson-Moss Act forces the dealer to prove the modification/aftermarket part caused the failure of a component before denying warranty coverage. If you remove your secondary cats, the chances of something failing because of it are highly unlikely to no chance at all.

What warranty is the first question that needs to be answered. Given that the last 204 rolled out of the showroom in 2015 you are either on a CPO or extended warranty from MB or an aftermarket warranty. They have different terms and such. I think Curt is correct if you have an MB warranty.

If it's a third-party warranty, they may be more likely to hunt for any excuse not to honor a claim (although a minor mod like that shouldn't even get noticed unless they are total *****s)

It’s a 2010 I got in March and I purchased bumper to bumper warranty that Mercedes offered (third party)
