Lane Keeping Assist Inoperative message removal

I get the Lane Keeping Assist Inoperative message on start up every single time. Ive got a custom steering wheel and i know it doesnt have that feature so thats alright. My main question here is how i can get rid of that message? Pretty annoying to always dismiss it when starting up the vehicle.

any help would be appreciated!

Ok the only way to get rid of it is if we swap wheels. I have had that message pop up and it was due to dirty sensors salt build up in winter. Car wash fixed it.

I am having the same issue after swapping to a non-vibrating steering wheel. Would like to know how to remove the message too. My understanding is the original wheel has a small motor embedded in it that will vibrate when you get out of the lane. Now that I do not have that connected, I am getting the error message. I was thinking about reconnecting the old wheel with the vibration motor in it, just to turn off the lane-keeping assist. Maybe that would work? Open to suggestions from the pros in here. I did try to clear the message with a handheld scanner, but it did not work.

Thanks and look forward to hearing back on this.

Just turn off the lane assist in the menu and you won't get the notification.

Your suggestion is the most logical solution. Unfortunately since there is an error, you cannot even access that part of the menu.

Brilliant! I normally use the push button, pulled it out and used the key to position one, and was able to access the lane-keeping menu. Turned off the function and no more error. Appreciate the suggestions!

Why don’t you swap in your vibration module and computer chip?

If you have the same style oem wheel take it apart and swap the internal components, down to the buttons.
take out the trim, computer module (under the airbag plate), vibration motor is under the trim

So I figured out how to remove the lane keep assist malfunction message a while back when the vibrating motor died on my steering wheel. All you have to do is clear the error code with a cheap Amazon obd2 reader and then immediately scroll through your cars settings and “disable” lane keep assist. Your able to disable it because you just cleared the code and the car has not yet detected the malfunction. Now that it’s disabled you will no longer get the malfunction message. If you later enable lane keep assist the malfunction message will come right back..

So I switched my steering wheel on my w213 e400 from the oem steering wheel to the amg steering wheel. I bought the steering wheel off a guy saying it came from an e63 if that helps. I used to have active lane keeping assist but now that I switched it, it doesn’t work and shows the warning on the screen. Anyone have this problem too? I’m seeing people saying to switch the module from the old steering wheel to the new one and it will work but do I need to add any wires and repin them to the red plug from the steering wheel that connects to the clock spring? Any advice would help and if anyone knows where I can see a video that will run me through the steps of switching the module then please share that or if you know anyone who did it then please get me in touch with them. Thanks in advance guys much appreciated
