c63 rattling

Hi all, although not my car or video, I have the exact same noise and symptoms as in the video below coming from my C63. Any ideas what it could be?
Thanks

do a video of the engine bay while someone does that. Almost rod knock like but very hard to tell.

Do you have a P31 (AMG Development Package)? It's probably just piston slap from the forged M159 pistons. A few people here have posted about it, myself included. Harmless, but it goes away once the pistons have fully warmed. Forged pistons expand and contract more, so the increased clearance when cold causes them to knock around at bit.

Yes my cars a P31 package (performance pack, facelift car). It's more noticeable when cold but can still happen when hot, more noticeable in lower gears. Funny thing is I can't even hear it when the windows down, only when it's up. Only happens between 1500-2000rpm and in only in drive (not in neutral if I rev it)
Very confusing symptoms tbh, but it sounds identical to that video and same rev range

I'd love to but it only happens in drive. If I'm in P or N and rev there is no noise at all. I open the window to see if I can hear it better but I can't hear it at all, almost sounds like the noise is coming from the dash rather than the engine...

how are you revving it in drive? Brake torque?

No so what I mean is that noise only happens when I'm driving. If I stop and put it in P or N and rev the engine to the same rev range, I don't get that noise at all. Only happens when in D and moving forward power to the wheels

Mines a 2013 P31 car also with same noise at same revs and I've put it down to piston slap.
I've had a few cars with forged pistons and they have all sounded the same especially when cold.
it will only happen with engine under load (in gear and driving) not while free revving.

Even though mine is an ML63 (M156 pistons) I had the same issue. Knocking in drive (under load) in the same RPM range. Dealer & indep. shop told me it piston slap.
