Wow this is surprising :O So many people willing to go carbon crazy
I might be able to help out if you are looking for an alternative manufacturer just across the border from Germany.
The quality will be just as good, if not better but the price will be "more competitive". I am not trying to steal the show here - SRG_C63 send me a PM if you're looking for an alternative.

As my parents are from Silesia themselves, I will get in touch with you.
But you should not forget that you have to buy two new roofs and make two moulds.
Whether the quality is the same or better, I can not convince myself of that. But since I would like to have the roof on my vehicle, I would have to check it. Otherwise the people pay a lot of money and are not happy in the end.
But I know that from my manufacturer.
Are you planning on buying a sedan roof without the sunroof cutout? I may be interested in it after the mould is made.
The roof will only be available without a cut-out for the sliding roof.
When the roof is finished, it will be much more expensive outside the group buy.

I think he means if the roof that the mould is being made out of has no sunroof in it he would be interested in said roof after the mould is made
Speaking of the Roof With the Sunroof Cut out, Is the cost for that roof to create a mould from expensive?
Putting a full CF Roof over a obvious sunroof IN the car, ir just odd. lol I tried to look if I could delete it, and it look ok. But it just looks like something is wrong. Inside.

If you removed the glass and just kept the shade closed nobody would know the difference.
You'd need to replace your headliner if you wanted to completely remove the sunroof sliders..
If you have a sedan you can actually buy an non sunroof headliner as the normal w204 in europe came with some that didn’t have a sunroof. Not sure on the coupe though as I can’t say I have seen one without a pan roof.
I have currently held further talks with possible companies.
How good should the quality of the roof be?
We have two options:
1. roof is produced by vacuum process. The roof will be very good, but not original quality.
2. the roof will be produced by autoclave. In this process we have a roof like the ones used by the big car manufacturers. It could not be better.
The shape would be taken from a new roof using 3D scanning and then a CAD file would be created. The fit and the manufacturing quality will be like an original Mercedes part.
With option 1 the price remains the same. With option 2 the price will be about 2150$.
My favorite is option 2, which costs $450 more, but the quality is superior.
1. domestic shipping in Europe
Sending the roofs within Germany costs money. With option 2. the manufacturer is only a few KM away from me and I can pick up all roofs with a transporter which reduces the shipping costs significantly. Furthermore I could check the roofs immediately on site.
2. shipping to North America
To keep the shipping costs as low as possible, I would send all roofs collected by container to the USA. I would take the transporter to Bremen and ship the roofs in a container to LA, where they would be received by BLKROKT by arrangement. Shipping a single roof by DHL does not work, because the dimensions for bulky goods are exceeded. Unfortunately I have not considered this. A further shipping within the USA would be cheaper.
3. the problem are the two forms. These simply take up time and money. With the additional mould for the coupe the price for the roof increases.
4. the shape of the roof.
The roof is unfortunately not simply shaped. On the photo I have marked the problematic place. In front and behind the edge of the roof is flat. On the side there is an edge that looks like a U when viewed from behind. Here the trim pieces are attached to it. It would be possible to make the sides flat and glue the clips for the trim. However, the mouldings are partly put directly on the roof, without clips. To glue the trim would not meet my requirements for such a roof.
Therefore a 3D scan is much more accurate than an molding. In addition, you get a perfect result with the production of an autoclave. With option 2 you have a carbon roof, like Porsche and BMW do in series production.
The production then runs exactly like here:
The price referred to a roof for only the sedan. If we had so many people only for the sedan, the price would of course be lower, because only one mould has to be made.
We need at least 10 people to make the roofs (Coupe and sedan together.) Only one more person, depending on how you see it and you are willing to spend a little more on the roof.
I'm willing to do that. Of course everybody will get an invoice where the costs are shown.
After the group purchase, there will be only one manufacturer in the world and they will not offer the roof for less than 3000$.
It doesn’t seem out of line pricing wise was just wondering. You say we need 10, as in 10 sedan roofs to make them and 10 coupe roofs if we want to make them as well or 10
in total of any denomination?

I changed that.
10 people in total (4 times coupe and 6 times sedan for example)
I didn't think it would be so difficult to find a partner for it. The problem is that the car is too old and the manufacturers are afraid not to sell more roofs if they produce the mould for a lot of money. That's why they want a minimum quantity.
So, what do you think guys?
A project like this needs an open exchange.
