Ok since it will be 1000 degrees outside this weekend, pulled the steering wheel tonight and will sit in the AC and knock it out over the weekend and will post up pics!

Man is this tedious stuff. Not sure if it’s just P31 wheels, but like sventastic82 I really had to pull and wrestle the cover on the bottom around 6.30 position to join up. There’s a small 1mm gap but I’m ok with it and will learn from this for the other side. 1/4 down....

Yes same hear, 507 wheel right at the bottom hard to get it to pull tight, I have a bit of a gap also, going to try some heat on it, have both bottom halves stitched but not tied off and will see if some heat and can tighten it up before I commit!

@BLKROKT, heat is the trick, grab a hair dryer, heat it up and stretches much easier and could pull the gab closed down at the 6 o'clock area, I used the plastic thing to bull the stitches one at a time tighter and work through to the 9 o'clock and now can tie off!

Thanks Rob. Got it done (took a detour to try and polish out a blemish in my carbon wheel trim, unsuccessfully). Ended up just tightening like you did but without heat. Happy with how it’s turned out, the additional thickness is nice already.

Mine turned out well also, probably more like 4 or 5 hours on and off and had to redo some spots where i got a stitch off - still a couple areas where I have a bit much material I will need to trim up on the top that doesn't follow the original line exactly. I do love the extra thickness and overall probably would do a better job the second time, but not sure I want to do it again anytime soon either - might rather pull the trans out, that is more my speed.

Very good quality product though compared to others I have seen and they give you enough thread to do it 3 times so no need to skimp and you can pull hella hard on it without issue, once I learned I could manhandle it a bit and added some heat, made stretching it when needed a bit easier!

@BLKROKT - you win the race, just finished - owe you a beer!

Haha yeah, I figured out that you can just lean into it without fear of breaking about halfway through.
I also had to redo the first half of the top half because I missed/skipped a loop at the beginning which messed up the stripe placement. Still not perfect, the corners are definitely tricky to keep track of and I put in a few extra rounds there for strength too.

I’ll be up your way seeing family around the holidays if things clear up, will ping you and skratch for a beer for sure.

Sounds good but we might have to stop talking to Skratch with him going 4.0

One last thing. The steering wheel bolt is technically one-time use. I put blue Loctite on it and torqued to 60ft/lbs.

Thanks was going to look up specs today on that had no idea they consider it single use will just do as you did certainly is a heavy steel bolt doesn’t seem like it should need replaced!

And, unlike the steering column, the splines are not specific on the steering wheel. It can go on in any position, so make sure you look for the marks (dots) to line it up. I haven’t driven yet so I don’t know if I got it right or not...

Yes, sorry I forgot to mention that in my initial post. I actually drove the car with the wheel in the incorrect position the first time.

Did you guys use any double sided tape to hold the wrap in place? Thinking I'd at some point want to remove it and not have a gaffed up steering wheel.

My wheel was basically good, I just wanted a bit more thickness over what I had but wanted to be able to remove it if it went poorly or I just wanted to go back to stock, so I didn't use any tape at all just put it on and it pulls so tight it won't move for sure - only place tape my help would be a bit nicer edge where the leather ends on the top where your thumps sit, it just sits on top of the old leather, looks ok and won't go anywhere but sticking it down would give a little cleaner edge there.

Exactly same here. There’s a little corner that sticks up near the top inside of the spokes, otherwise it’s perfect with no tape. Just took a drive and the wheel is great. Surprisingly big difference in feel. One of the best bang-for-the-buck mods right here.

Oh yeah, and DERP (I’m off by one spline)

Yes, 1-5 are rap, 6-9 are classic rock and metal. I’m usually on Spotify anyway.

Sorry, no Céline Dion or bears banging on pots or Nickleback or whatever else you guys listen to up there.

Nicely done gents. I've taken the steering wheel on off a couple times, fine without loctite/reusable.

Also off by one spline at the moment from last time LOL
