My indy shop diagnosed it by adjuster... ended up replacing the two on just one bank for <$5k. Car runs like a beast again with just over 100k miles.

So ill be taking off the valve cover today to visually look at the camshafts and adjusters. Just wondering if there are any torque requirements for the valve cover bolts when putting them back on?

There is a torque spec and sequence. These are for the PFL with the aluminum valve covers. Yours has the fiber valve covers and I believe the torque value is lower, maybe 8Nm. You will need to confirm that. The torque sequence should still be valid. You might want to use new gaskets and clean matting surfaces well of all traces of dirt and oil.

make sure you tighten a little at a time in sequence. if you over torque any one bolt you could snap your magnesium valve cover if you have the metal covers.

oops never mind you have a 2014...polymer valve covers. still, take precaution knowing that the polymer valve covers are less likely to break.

So quick update, I received a new a new position sensor, put it in but I still got a CEL. This time the code was P0343, my generic code reader says its "camshaft position sensor circuit high" which I believe is voltage issues. I checked the wiring at the connector and it looked fine. Anyone think I should still open up the valve cover and look at the cams? Or does it sound like more of an electrical problem? Maybe a bad sensor?

Update to my initial posts. After trying a new camshaft position sensor and continuing to get the error codes, I went back to the original sensor and everything magically disappeared. Drove the car for about 2000km without any issues or CEL. Just today as I was accelerating from a red light I noticed a "jerk" and lo and behold the same error codes (P0010 and P0341) have returned. I reset them again and the car has been running fine without any codes.

Does this sound like a serious issue? I have not opened the valve covers yet to inspect. There is 39,000km on the car and no camshaft rattle on cold start. Potentially an electrical issue? Or is it best to inspect the adjusters now?

circuit open codes mean the sensors is faulty or you have an issues with an electrical connection or wiring.
