Oil leaking onto exhaust manifold?

I was off on a drive last night and when I got home I noticed some smoke coming out of my engine bay. I think there's a bit of a drip falling onto my exhaust headers. Anybody have an idea on where it's coming from? I attached some pictures.

Valve cover I suppose, but I didn't know the M156 suffered the same sickness as the older M113 engines

I would guess so, but I have a facelifted car so the valve cover hasn't been opened since it left the factory.

Does it smell like Oil burning? If so, most likely valve cover gasket. As you mentioned, since yours is a newer M156, it's not the head bolts.

Weird question, I think you're right but what does oil burning smell like?

Update: smells like diesel

If I may ask, how much did it cost? Looks like that's the route I'm going down.

My 2014 leaked there same area back corner drivers side, put a new seal on it and was good for a while then started leaking about a year later and pulled it again and found a crack and had to replace it. Valve cover was about $300 bucks and I did it myself, takes about 2 hours to replace if you take your time, probably could do it in an hour and a half or less now, just having the right tools to get to a few of the back bolts helps a lot.

I would bet money it is a leaking valve cover. My passenger side did the same. I replaced both sides in about 3-4 hours. It’s not too hard, there’s a DIY video on YouTube.
