Zinc oil additive
I have used zinc oil additive in my older cars that had flat-tapped cams. It is supposed to help prevent wearing of the cam and lifters. I was wondering if this might help the cams and lifters in the m156 engines.

LiquiMoly MOS2 and Ceratec are probably the best additives for the M156.

I run schaeffer's Supreme 9000 in my car and it has higher zddp content along with calcium i believe. Do I think it'll help, I absolutely do. But do some VOA on some oils will give you an idea to make your own educated guess etc. Or looking on BITOG forum. I believe there's plenty of great oils on the market but alot of over hype for them as well. I used to be a royal purple fan boy back in the day. Now I run schaeffer's, motul for most of my performance based engines and Rotella T6 and pennzoil platinum ultra in everything else.

Zinc is about having enough for the drain interval as it sacrificially gets used up , more doesn't mean higher protection in fact too much can really upset the balance of the oil and give some adverse effects .

Do VOA’s and UOA’s and also feel out how the car behaves for you. I don’t tag on mine all the time and according to my UOA car has been doing pretty well as far as wear metals go.
This is also why some decide to use different oils for the road vs the track. Iirc it’s been shown that just having fresh oil equated to higher hp gains.
