Moving to the Darkside

I just purchased a 2018 M5 with 15,000 miles. All is I can say is they are different cars. I am getting car ceramic coated and pick up new ride on Monday.

I still have my 2010 AMG and it is looking for it’s next owner.

Below is my beloved AMG and new ride. If I had a third garage bay I would keep it.

Cheers!

Whats the M5 like?
I feel a bit stupid asking you to compare a turbo'd "modern" car to a naturally aspirated car that's 10 years old, but i am curious.

Haven’t had much seat time yet. Obviously comparing to a 2010 to 2018 is a huge tech jump not fair.

AMG steering is better and exhaust and it stops there. The C63 is awesome car but this M5 is in a different class in terms of performance and comfort.

M5 is a big full size car vs C63. The driver modes are crazy you get comfort, sport and sport plus for engine, suspension, steering. The transmission has 6 modes and you can also select traction modes 4WD, 4WD sport and 2D.

As far as other tech features it has all the usual stuff but also has night vision. Configurable HUD and 1400 watt bower Wilkins stereo.

It also has illuminated M5 door sills and M5 illuminated head rest logo. When you open door at night //M projections on the ground. Pretty cool.

I can’t wait for a dry day to really flog it and try launch control.

In terms of speed and torque is nuts 553 pounds at 1800 rpms straight until 5800 rpms then tapers to redline.

Full throttle in AMG is like 1/2 throttle the M5, BMW have sensitive throttle settings thought.

Overall it’s the best car I have ever owned and most expensive I can confirm 0-60 is 3 seconds. Only complaint is exhaust sucks you can’t hear it in the cabin too much insulation and they use fake exhaust noise in the speakers.

If you're looking to really make things interesting for your M5, check out Bootmod3.

Congratulations on your F90.

@AMG6.3

did you consider it's competition with the E63S+ ?

That has all you are mentioning with tech and power. Still the M5 seems to win, but curious as to what made you switch? Just looking for something different?

For me, even if the E63 is under powered the exhaust notes would make me happy 😁

The exterior of the E63S is to plain for me. I was shopping for M5 and 911 (991.2) but did not end up driving 911 after driving the M. Plus 911 was more $$$.

I also have a C6 modded corvette with full headers if I want loud.

Congrats! Having both C63 and modified 911 (991.2) I may have to check one of these out. I'm not a 'big' car fan, but feel is everything. Was considering getting an RS3 and throwing some mods and tune on it. Still small and the respond exceptionally well to mild tuning and seem to handle the abuse well.

M5 is certainly track capable but given its size there are much better options.
