Camshaft and Lifter Inspection over the weekend. 88k miles on this factory set and looks like I caught some lobes flattening and a couple lifters getting eaten. I already have 32 new lifters ready to go and I'm sending these cams to 63motorsports. While I wait for them to get back i'm going to tackle a few other things; PS reservoir and flush, idler pulleys, coolant reservoir, open intake manifold & inspect. Its just time and money right?

Is that the top "flaking" off or am I seeing a reflection? Where's that flake? 🤔
Eh I’m not sure on the noise. Yes the motor was ticking but I’ve never been around another M156 so I don’t know what you’d call normal amount of noise. I did 63Motorsport cam adjuster plates about a year ago and cams were showing some early signs of wear then. So I wanted to get back in there and check. Even with frequent oil changes, I’m glad I checked.
No that’s not a flake on the lifter, it’s a reflection. There is a rough divot in those two lifters but other than that it’s smooth.

Right, 100%. I'm the second owner and only 27k miles on my PFL car but my new lifters, head bolts, gaskets, and other goodies arrive tomorrow. I've had the 63motorsports cam adjuster plates for a while. I've decided the car is a keeper so might as well get this done, like you said time and money but I need a new project so this is it. I'm interested to see the wear on my internals since it was babied by the PO.
Dang. That was half way to punching all the way through.
I was curious about this so I sectioned the bad lifter. The top surface that contacts the cam is 0.100” thick. My divot was only .010-.012” deep. But my picture sure made it look worse when playing with the lighting.

Yeah, it did look way worse from the pic. Either way, caught it in time which is good.
Months ago, RBR put out a video of him buying a w205 C63s Final Edition. In it, he showed off his Edition 55 AMG Fuel filler cap, and I've wanted one ever since.
I missed the boat on the first round of these, which were going for ~$25, original Part number 0004708100.
Mercedes corporate has since jacked up the price on the new part #, but now you definitely get a fancy box. (original above just came in the OE plastic bag).
Along the way though, I found out they not only made the black one, as advertised, but they also have a red edition.
I couldn't decide which was better, so now I have both.
Totally worth the price though, I think they add like ~15whp each.
I love how Mercedes included hybrid & diesel badges in the AMG box.
If anyone's interested, new part numbers are:
A0004703201 - Black AMG Gas Cap
A0004703301 - Red AMG Gas Cap

I don’t know about it adding extra power, but it sure looks good when you have to fill up.
While I'm waiting for cams to show up, I needed to tackle a handful of "while you're in there" work. So I decided to remove and open up the intake manifold. It has a few spots of corrosion that i'll address. Installing a new pcv and 63Motorsports catch can to help keep oil out of there too. Also replaced all the idler pulleys and tensioner. Coolant reservoir fitting snapped off so I replaced it as well. Steering reservoir replacement and flush is next.
Collected the car from paintshop, again!
I wasn´t happy with the earlier jobs, got refunded.
So this winter i had it resprayed again, this will be the last w204 standing, due to no rust
This time it lookes good, paintshop had me visit them a couple of times to make sure i verified the colour.
It was meant to just spray the bad sections and fade out onto the panels beside it.
But he decided it was the best just respray almost the whole car.(roof and trunk is oem colour)
The car was put together in 4hrs, but no pic of that as when i went out to testdrive it started to rain, of course
