The ticking sound.. But now with knocks
My dads old 2008 c63 amg had the famous ticking sound which after a lot of research turned out to be "normal"
This is how it sounds on mine 2013 after 1 hour hard driving. Recorded straight over name plate on engine cover.

But now this knocking soundn can be heard around the oil filler cap, its more of a knocking sound. I guess its not normal? What can it be? Expensive fix? 😔

So the ticking isn't normal but is common, it is the cam adjusters wearing away, the knocking is them getting to the failure point as themachinist said 63motorsports for the fix or new cam adjusters from mercedes if you like to spend more money.

Thanks for the answers. This is a sad sad day. I bought the car 2-3 month ago with 38k miles. 2013 model. How strange that cams can be this bad so soon. Full service too. This feels so bad... Ah well, going to contact the dealer on monday. Any tips on how to lay it up?
*edit* About how much is it to change them? Want to know if.. worst case scenerio dealer deny me and I have to spit it out until legal stuff settles.

What does full service mean? Yearly oil changes or oil changes every 10k miles? If it’s a 2013 I would hope the changed the oil more than 4 times at least.

Yea every year. I checked with Mercedes and they also said the service have been done at their place and when it should.

Cam adjusters get noisy sometime in 10 or 15k miles even, I had mine done on my 2014 at like 35k miles. Did you buy the car from a Mercedes dealer? I asked Mercedes for goodwill on mine, it was about a year off extended warranty and Mercedes covered the parts costs and replaced all 4 cam adjusters.
About how much is it to change 4 cam adjusters? How long will it take a good mechanic to swap?

Oh, thats a shame. Didnt know they were that brittle. Sadly not, its from a private dealer shop. And they are not so easy to deal with.. After they sell a car they seem VERY hard to get in touch with. But in Sweden we got a 6 month legal law if I bought a car. But I need to prove the fault was there before I bought it. I bought it ~ 2 month ago and have driven it like max 650 miles since. So I will probably have the right. But, again, many buts... Its a huge process if they deny, can take up to a year before and verdic comes.
