Dash cam for W204
Wondering what everyone's thoughts are on what is the best dashcam for the w204. I'm looking at Vantrue N4 Front + Back from Amazon but I was interested to hear everyone else's thoughts on which ones everyone else used.

I'm running Thinkware U1000 4k Front 2K Rear dash cam. Has great parking mode so if anything happens while your parked you'll have it recorded. If you also setup a hotspot you can view the footage live on your cell phone.
I also have it wired up to an external Celllink neo battery so it doesn't drain my car battery.

Not a dashcam, but I've been using the Yi 4k+ Action Camera. 4k/60 + a pile of other recording modes including HFR, battery or USB-C power capability, micro-SD with large format compatibility. I used it to record two road trips around the U.S. (7500+/8500+ miles) and have about 16TB of footage combined. If you're looking for audio as well, it's not great, but can be paired with a USB-C mic. Image stabilization is good with a decent mount. Only thing I really did was add a polarizing lens with an adapter I printed to reduce dash glare from the windshield.

Viofo A129 Plus front and rear. I've gone thru half a dozen over the years and finally found one that's built really well and has outstanding video. It's GoPro quality materials. 3K front (2560x1600) and 1080P rear. A favorite on the dashcam forums too.
Amazon has it for $175, and it goes on sale every couple months for around $150.

I'm running the Blackvue LTE dashcam. It has a built in LTE SIM card that automatically connects to the cloud. You can monitor your car anytime with Live view and it automatically sends notifications to your phone for motion detection and impact detections.

I also run a single channel on my daily.
No issues so far to speak of.

Blackvue for me, great reliability, lots of selection of options and video quality, I run the 2 channel front and rear setup, think I have the cheaper ones, the dr570, won't be the cheapest option but is a good quality well supported product vs some fo the cheaper throw away ones.
In both my kids cars, I have the Rexing V1 4k and I have to admit for the money (100 bucks) it has been great, quality is quite good, has wifi so you can grab the videos right off it, good unit for the money.

I ran Garmin in the C63 for years but went with the Blackvue DR900X-2CH in the Jeep. The hardware and video quality is excellent but the software tools to extract clips is meh. The Garmin software would stitch together a session and let you export a trimmed clip. No such luck with the Blackvue viewer software doing it natively. You need to manually (use 3rd party tools) mash 1min clips together and deal with the overlap.

I got mine from 4x4shop.ca as it's the only one that I know of that looks OEM and is completely stealth / fully integrated with the car's interior. Front only and 1080p, but it's a dash cam. Great low light (night) sensitivity with no discernible noise.

Thinkware two channels with WiFi.
I'm thinking about buying the dash am that works with the android screen. My android has been working very well. The dash cam for it is designed into a replacement molded piece that goes up to cover the rain sensor. Then the output can be viewed on the android screen.
Then I'll remove the thinkware and put it on the GLA45.
I've had the thinkware in other cars for years and it survived summers of high heat, being cooked between the windshield and the windshield sun shield underneath.

At the risk of mentioning the worst dash cam here - I’m running the Escort M1 DashCam. I chose this one because it easily daisy chains power to my Escort Passport 360. I’ll be honest the app is old and clunky and it doesn’t have allot of extra features like the cams these days (gps, speed, parked recording etc). But it gets the job done

Have been curious about dash cams for a bit. Do any of these have the driver/window in the shot. Curious if there was someone standing at my window speaking to me, if they would be in the image as well?

There is a W204-specifc housing that contains the camera (it is specific to the car model - I also got one for the ML, which has a different housing). It replaces the plastic cover behind the mirror with the one that contains the camera. Both the colour and texture are indistinguishable from the OEM cover.

Can Cloud Data (video, speed, etc.) be subpoenaed and used against you in court? Asking for a friend.

ANYTHING that opposing counsel thinks may be relevant to their case can be subpoenated. The question you should be asking your friend is why would (s)he ever upload any such data to the cloud?
