Oil Issue
I just had the oil and oil filter changed yesterday. I'm getting "check eng. oil lev. when refuelling" on the dash when the engine oil gets up to around 80 Celsius.
Drove to work carefully. Checked oil 5 minutes after shut off and its slightly below the max mark on the dipstick so OK. Checked 10 minutes later and it's showing oil is at the max mark. I don't think any more oil needs to be added.
I've never had this error pop up before, and this is the third time oil has been changed since I took ownership.
Possibly the sensor happened to become faulty during the service and its bad luck or could there be another problem? 🤔
Oil level is a little over full mark when sat overnight and a little under full mark when checked 5 mins after oil has reached operating temp.
OBD scanner shows no errors
Does this means I have a faulty sensor or could it be something else?
Drain some oil out until the oil level is a bit BELOW the maximum level and you should be fine.

5 minutes after engine was turned off (oil was at operating temp and got to 103 degrees celcius). Oil level is about 80-85% toward full line (second tab), I.e oil is bit below max level
3 hours after car was turned off. Oil is on second tab but not above
Maybe get a different angle? However, if I was to guess, the oil being all the way to the top, if that is what I am seeing, means that indeed there is too much oil. You don't want the oil to be at maximum, but just below.

Go to whoever did the work and explain this has never before occurred.
Unless you have the ability to suck the oil from the dip stick, I'd have the Company that did the job sort it out.

This morning got the check oil level msg when oil reached operating temp. Restarted the car. Msg came back on dash after 10 minutes driving. Restarted the car. Same thing.
A faulty sensor is a definite possibility, but the fact that it started right after the last oil change is a bit... well, too coincidental. Oil level sensors on the M156 are not exactly known to fail.

Agree that it's too coincidental for this to happen right after the last oil change . Previously I was using Castrol Edge 5w40.
Something very strange is going on, today when I checked the oil after a drive, it's showing slightly above the max mark. I'm fairly sure I was on level ground , and I checked 6 or 7 times and got the same result. Will take the car back to mechanic on Monday...
wonder if anyone here knows when the oil sensor is supposed to trigger the msg (I.e at what point over max and at what point does the system consider the oil too low...)
Anyone have any idea what this could be?
