LTH + H Pipe/X Pipe/ Straight Pipe

Starting off with I’ve scoured forums for all info and lots of it isn’t so helpful. I’m simply looking for a bit of exhaust advice or to hear yours.

Looking into buying PLM Long Tube Headers
Also Armytrix full valved exhaust

Now since I’m going valved I’m going FULL catless.
I wanted to know which pipe (X/H/Straight) in place will keep the most AMG sound in the car as I love loud but I also don’t like American V8’s
I’ve seen X loses AMG sound
Straight sounds American
H sounds good but no one really proved it.

I've heard several in person and still prefer long tubes, factory resonator and factory mufflers.

Its only super loud at WOT, zero drone, and sounds closed to factory under light throttle.

Truly I want to keep factory stuff but living in California and my neighborhood too, I’m sort of forced to go with a valved full exhaust. Cop lives right next to me and I’m currently 2nd cat and resonator deleted and he already gives me some looks.

X-Pipe gives it a high pitch exotic sound.
H-Pipe gives it a deep sound.

If you want to keep most of the AMG sound keep the factory mufflers.

No matter what, keep the factory mufflers. There is a reason why the e55 guys pay $1,000+ for them.

I HAVE MBH LTH, Mid Pipes with an X pipe. I’m on the fence on the X-Pipe. I’m always debating whether to put the resonator back on. But then I go WOT and the debate goes away.

with my setup you will get the raw, wtf is going on, sound effect. Definitely not for the faint of heart. Normal driving is not that bad. It can be little annoying at low rpm if you go 20-30% throttle. But anything passed that you have a singing 6.2L breathing freely.

If you do decide to go catless, front and rears, along with the mufflers, I will personally pay you $1,750+ for the setup.

$800-$1000 for the stock cats
$750+ for the mufflers

Factory mufflers are overrated. Sell them to a 55 owner. With that money you can have a custom 3” stainless exhaust built from the headers back using Magnaflows, which sound better in my opinion anyway.

Hummm, what do they usually sell for? (Disclaimer: I'm not searching... just looking for an easy answer that I don't care if goes unanswered)

I sold 4 sets in last month, ranging anywhere from $1,000-$1,300.

I buy their stock cores, they buy my stock cores. Win win for everyone.

They have been for some time. I personally pay $750 for them. (I’m all about transparency). We may refinish them, make any corrections, or sell them as is. Truthfully, I’ve had dry spells on them, but they eventually all sell pretty fast. I sat on 5 sets last 6 months, barely moved a single set. Then last month I sold out.

It’s a short term investment that has always paid out.

I’m likely going with an Armytrix valve set up so I’ll be selling mufflers.
Probably keeping stock cats cause California. If I get state reffed I’m completely screwed if I don’t have my cats ready to be thrown on lol.

I would HIGHLY recommend running at least 200 CELL high flow cats on yours, being that it’s Cali and all. You’ll never have to worry about what if, and you’ll lose a massive .001% power, and gain .001% trq. (No expert here. Others always have good ideas as well)

Yeah I may do that, also why I’m going valved so I can close em if I see a cop. I don’t drive like an *** so it shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

Cmon now, guys. Isn’t this type of convo way behind us. Inviting someone over, over the internet, is old as the internet itself. I’m sure we’ve matured passed these silly insults, no?

Broken face? I just wanted to have a couple pints at the local pub and give you driving lessons. But if you'd like to go that way - we can....
