Put more oil in your 2008-2012

Basically add 19mm to the dipstick.
2008-2012 says add two liters in info display.
And 2012 - 2014 says add one litre?
That means if the later one says add one litre, that the oillevel on the dipstick has the same toplevel, 8.5litres(~9quarts)
They have only thightened the interval to top up with oil when consumed, not raised the actual total amount of oil.
This probably due to engine needs to build oilpressure faster on startup.(the oilpump doesn´t need to pull oil from a low level as often as the owners finds it 'ok' to run with low level until the light comes on)
I say use the light as ultimate warning, and use the dipstick often to check your level, like every two weeks or so, or after/before trackday/mexico runs.

What he is trying to point out is, that the low oil level sensor on the 2008 sits lower than on a 2014.
That means when you have the message pop up that you need to add more oil to the 2008 to get to the full mark on your dipstick than on a 2014.

So you fill it the same to the full mark on the dipstick as per Merecedes recommendations, then as the oil decreases due to bad PCV, blow by, leaks etc the new cars detect that soon as the electronic sensor is 20mm higher so the new cars will tell you to add a liter when the oil reduces to the sensor height. In the older cars the sensor was lower in the pan so you need to loose almost 2 liters of oil before the dash will tell you to add oil.
So there is no difference on total oil capacity in the car, the difference is that new cars warn you sooner that oil is low, old cars wait until the oil is almost 2 quarts low to tell you which if people wait for the warning may be low enough to cause some starvation under high G loads.
So really the moral of the story is in both cases check your oil regularly by the dipstick especially if your car tends to loose oil and especially in the older cars don't wait for the dash to tell you to add oil as mercedes decided that was obviously too low for a warning and unless you want to take the pan off and shim your sensor, you should check your oil and add a liter when it is a liter low instead of waiting for it to be 2 liters low.

Once the oil level is close to max following the PROPER check oil level procedure then the level is good. At this level there is enough oil scavenging happening throughout all the operational rev range. I also check oil very regularly and never it go below this mark.

I'm glad you answered a couple questions which were intended for someone else.
from the video the newer oil pans would be more sensitive to this change in level than the older ones based on where the sensor is at.

Sorry If I offended you.....usually no one cares who answers it as long as its answered and correct. Maybe next time you could put "Only to be answered by XXXXX"...since you seem so sensitive about it!!

So my assumption was, If I quote him he would feel spoken/written to and not somebody else.
I'm not offended at all. I was just looking forward to his answer.
