Buying a 2014 low mileage C63 from Carvana

Been looking at C63 for about 6 months now, having sold my previous car, a 2020 Giulia QV. Having previously had an e90 M3 several years ago, I always missed the raw sounds from that thing. I just didn't get that same feeling in a turbo V6 with the Alfa so I know know I have the sound of NA V8s, hence looking for a C63.

It's not a cheap price at ~51K but it's a 2014 with only ~20K miles with just a few options; LSD, performance media and Keyless Go. Am I crazy to spend that as I know the market is crazy as I was able to sell my Giulia for just over what I originally paid.

Has anyone had a buying experience with Carvana? I don't mind the idea of buying online as I have 7 days when I receive to make a decision and plan to take it to a shop for a thorough inspection during that time.

Just out of curiosity, what made you buy the Guilia?

Handling, performance and price but I never was thrilled with the sound. Also, I had Alfa's previously; a Giulia Ti and 4C which were great cars and I got QV new with almost 20K off sticker.

Interesting car, I don't think I have ever seen a base one with AMG Performance Media, only the odd 507 and BS, actually didn't realize it was an option on the non 507 version in 2014 but looked it up and sure enough it was available, so that is pretty cool and has factory LSD which is also a bit rare.

"Has anyone had a buying experience with Carvana? "
My son just bought a Land Rover Velar for Carvana, initially he was thrilled, they gave him a good price for his car, arranged the trade easily, price of the Velar was competitive, extended warranty was reasonable. Then it went downhill once he received the car; Driving home to Philly from SC, got a flat, ok not the end of the world, nearest tire dealer couldn't patch the tire because it had already been patched twice, and they didn't have the size - drove 100 miles out of his way on the donut to get a tire, that dealer told him that 2 other tires were also patched, Carvana is sending him a check to replace the 3 tires, he has yet to receive -it's been 3 Months.
Once home took car to Land Rover dealer to sort out check engine light - Carvana told him to put it thru his extended warranty - he disagreed - used their 150-point inspection process as argument that it should have been discovered then and taken care of. NO go he used his extended warranty. He has had the car now for 3 months and just got the title last week after numerous phone calls - each time was like the 1st time he called - he was livid.
I told him of the reviews I read the #1 negative was Carvana's ability to deliver the paperwork needed to get the car titled. The reviews were 100% correct.

My take on his transaction - their 150-point inspection is worthless, they will pass a bad car off, their ability to get you the paperwork to get it titled in your name awful. be prepared!

I've seen some good reviews on Carvana and about the process, but I've also seen a lot of instances like Makiii mentioned. Carvana does seem like they work with you pretty well to fix all the issues, but it's really up to you and how your patience is.

Also I know that car prices are crazy now but that price and mileage is what I got mine for back in Nov 2014, crazy times.

Put up a link to the car, might help some.

Thanks for the feedback. I know there's a risk with buying sight unseen, but I feel comfortable mitigating that risk by using their 7 day return period to get the car inspected. I also have the right to refuse vehicle on delivery if I notice any big visual issues.

When it comes to price, I'm buying a vehicle to put a smile on my face every time I drive and that comes at a cost, especially for cars that you just can't get new any more. I've owned many cars in the past 35 years and only two have ever put a smile on my face every single time I drove them; S54 BMW M coupe and a E90 M3.

I went ahead with the purchase and the car will be here Tuesday so will let you know how it goes.

Here is the car listing.

Congrats
hope it all turns out ok. I’ve bought 3 cars sight unseen and they turned out ok. 85 Colony Park wagon in 2015 had it shipped, 05 Crossfire convertible met the dealer in the parking lot of a Marriott 300 miles away & the 2017 E400 wagon flew to Buffalo to pick up.
much easier having it delivered as opposed to traveling to get

good luck hope it’s all you want it to be

I bought my C63 P30 on Carvana and I am really happy with the whole experience. Car was exactly as described, and you can always give it back if it isn't.

Off topic, but how was your experience with owning the 4c and guilia? I have a bit of a soft spot for those two particular models, and if i were to purchase another car in addition to the C63, it would be one of those two.

I bought my C63 with Carvana a few years back ($33k for 38k miles, times have changed!). Overall had a good experience, just make sure to document any issues with them ASAP. My car was dirty and had a chip in the windscreen, they gave me $250 for detailing and replaced the windscreen. No real issues with title/reg and all that - everything was sent FedEx overnight, but it was pre-covid so may be a bit harder now.

Definitely take the 7 days to do full PPI at a shop - I kept the car because it was in really great condition and had a clean PPI. Carvana customer service was great throughout.

I bought my 2013 PP with LSD on Caravan about 14 months ago for $32k and traded in an IS350 at the same time.

The process really wasn’t bad at all. The car had a few small issues when it was delivered so I had them take it back and fix them before accepting delivery. They took it to the local MB dealership and had it back to me a week later.

I bought mine sight unseen right when the indelicate started and it had 86,000 miles from a fire dealer in BFE Indiana. I checked maintenance history and such before buying. Looked at 20-30 cars.. when the car was delivered the blower was making a weird noise. I had to end up fixing it as it wasn’t covered under warranty. Was only $400. Outside of that this far the car has been amazing. Purchased car almost 2 years ago.

Carvana and Carmax have some of the best extended warranty packages. As much as these places are a dumping ground for bad cars they seem to be pretty good. I've had them cover dumb things like peeling and broken cupholders that a cpo / dealership would never cover. I'd have no fear buying something from them. Sure it may not be right when you buy it (yea that sucks, welcome to used car purchases) but they will make it right. Paperwork can be an issue depending on if it's a lost title or something stupid. I'm still fighting with the hawaii MB dealer over getting proper paperwork months later. I wouldn't take the car to them to fix, but whomever you trust to work on it.

Check the specs/options carefully when you get the car. It says it has the memory seat package, but I do not see the memory seat control panel on the door panels as there should be. Unless there was something different about the 2014 cars that I'm not aware of.

FYI, I just checked the VIN on the listing against the datacard (www.lastvin.com), and I don't see the memory seat package that Carvana is advertising. I also don't see anything that would indicate the Performance Media, but I'm not sure if it's under a different code/name.
I do see Keyless-Go and LSD however.

Is Performance Media the same as 255 Track Pace App. I'm not certain as I thought it was code 255.

Car delivery date has changed to Friday but rescheduling seems to be not an uncommon thing.

Re: Tires, are dealers required to replace with like tire type (e.g., summer to summer). The car came with summer tires but I asked and they said new tires were added but in looking pics they seem to be HTR A/S P03 Sumitomo's Ultra High Performance All-Season...I guess they buy as cheap as possible.

I bought mine from Carvana in 2018. They put new tires out back, but it was a no name A/S made in China. I promptly bought new wheels and tires and sold the tires on Craigslist. You're at least doing better than I did with the Sumitomos.

Also, like someone mentioned, schedule a dealer PPI. I scheduled mine the day it was delivered, and Carvana approved all the repairs. They are really motivated to make you happy during the 7 day return policy. After that, they will fight you on any other repair, even during the warranty period. I bought their 4 year warranty, and while it did pay for itself, I had to fight tooth and nail for every repair. Unfortunately, every aftermarket warranty company will do the same.

255 is Performance Media yes called Track Pace App on option list (and you can see the AMG button in the pics below the radio) Car doesn't not have the seat memory package as Balanbro pointed out, it has the base seats that have some power adjustments on the side, but forward back is manual with no memory option, you had to get the full leather package to get the memory seats with the buttons on the door and that will also mean the steering wheel is manual adjustment I think.

Car arrived this morning

Car arrived from Carvana this morning. Besides a couple of bigger touch up marks on the rear bumper, car is in excellent shape and looks like a 19K mile car. Paint swirls are not too terrible but looking forward to detailing it when the weather warms up.

Haven't had a chance to drive too much but the sound when it first started...music to my ears. Engine sounds good, not ticking or other strange sounds. Steering feels light but pretty responsive. Need to wait for warmer weather and ditching the all seasons to get a better sense of handling.

Question: Car has what seems like adaptive lights but I thought halogens were standard as I have no lighting package. They are the Mercedes ILS headlights that move when I turn the car on. Were these retrofitte?

Car is going to Mercedes dealer on Monday for PPI and my independent mechanic on Wednesday. If that works out, I'm definitely keeping it.

From that datacard on lastvin.com, I see that it does have the lighting packing:

615 BI-XENON HEADLICHT W.ACTVIE CURVELIGHT RIGHT-DRIVE

For some reason, the features on the Carvana page don't seem accurate. It seems you actually have a few other cool features they didn't mention.
I see Distronic (adaptive cruise), active blind spot, and lane keep assist. Those were all options.

Even when I bought mine a few years back, Carvana didn't even mention the P31 package, which was confirmed via the datacard.

Looks like you got a pretty well spec'd car. Best of luck with the PPI!
