Titanium cam bolts

Hey guys! I'm doing my cam adjusters and lifters in a few days and was wondering if you think the titanium cam phaser bolts that hold the adjusters to cams from 63 motorsports are worth it. Oem are tty so one time use but the titanium are reusable.

Tbh I don't plan on removing the adjusters from the cams again once the job is done, just seeing if anyone thinks the weight savings and clamping force is worth the additional money. Thanks

do not reuse one time use bolts. the factory bolts will yield when reused.

Considering the price difference, I just bought the OEM bolts since I didn't plan to take them out after doing the same work you're talking about.

I was debating between buying new oem bolts through FCP or the titanium from 63.

I think that's the route in gonna go as well. If I see my cams are worn I'll replace them along with everything else so it's a one and done type deal. Thanks man!

They will yield, whatever option you choose, get new ones. Personally, I think it's really cool that 63motorsports has put the time in to offer a product like this and support M156 users, so I was happy to support in return with an excellent quality product you will only have to buy once.

It sounds like they are referring to cam phaser bolts after re-reading the op post... in that case for me I used ARP which are a lifetime use bolt also. I thought they were referencing the cam adjuster plate bolts which are the titanium ones I used from 63motorsports

For what it is worth, there is a video of Tasos going absolutely ham on cranking a oem phaser bolt to find out the true tty limit and they went way past threshold but he still recommended using new every time.

5 cam phaser plate bolts...if you can buy OEM bolts new and only expect to torque them one time, that is fine. Cam phaser to camshaft bolt, the OEM bolt is torque to yield but as mentioned the factory bolt takes a lot to yield, new bolts aren't expensive and i'd recommend just replacing them with new bolts. camshaft cap bolts, don't need titanium bolts.

ultimately, the titanium bolts are lighter and able to be reused more than once in place of their torque to yield counterparts. do what you feel is necessary. i personally have 63motorsports stage 3 plates with titanium cover bolts, but will be using new factory phaser to camshaft bolts and new diamond washers.

Sorry for the confusion I should have said cam phaser to cam bolts. I will be using the 5 titanium bolts that hold the adjuster together. As for everything else I'll use new oem (cam cap, diamond washers, front timing cover and phaser to cam bolts) coupled with upgraded plates.

Do you think stage 2 is worth the extra money for a mostly stock engine? I've been eyeballing the skeleton covers they offer now as well. I want to support 63 motorsports in every way I can but money is a little tight right now. I appreciate all the responses!

all products that 63motorsports are better than factory and will outlast oem equivalents. you will be good with any stage of their kits. the higher stages will just be longer lasting and more durable.

I actually bought the set of titanium bolts for the adjuster plates also. I figured it would be a pain to take the existing ones apart and realize one or more had been stretched so I bought the whole set which guaranteed I'd get the new plates on with the correct spec bolts. Those skeletonized ones are cool looking but considering I'm just refreshing a stock engine, I went the cheapest ones since I didn't need the additional strength or weight savings.

Quick question, for the spark plug tube seals is 1560162121 correct for plastic valve covers or is it 1590160021?

I re-used my stock bolts with some loctite but I would definitely invest in the Titanium cam bolts, the stock bolts can strip easily if you're not careful.

For gaskets get the whole kit and replace them all while you're in there.

Just wanna say I love your YouTube channel and your car is beautiful man! I like FCP but they're crazy expensive, to do both sides it will be over $200. If I go through mboemparts.com it will be half that price. I'm unsure whether I need the green or red spark plug tube seals. I'm thinking it's the 159 number since that's what's in the kit from FCP but just wanna make sure before I order.

The green colored ones are for the older motors with the metal valve covers. If you have the new black plastic ones, you need the red ones.

Thank you! Much appreciated looks like stage 1 are on backorder from 63 so I'm going with stage 2.
