Hello,
I have used the weistec tcu tune and I am very happy with the results, however I have it on my GLC63 which has the 725.9 but I would only imagine it would be a bigger help for the older 7 speed since it was slightly slower in lower speed shifting. If you want some more info about call weistec and ask for Ricky, he helped me out and put the tuners on the phone to explain if I needed it and how it would affect the trans.
Hope this helps!

FYI, TCU tunes do not change steering paddle to shift speeds.

Ya this, my trans shifts plenty fast and isn't worth 2 grand to me to speed it up a little - someone needs to figure out how to fix it so the paddle shifters actually do what you want them to when you tell them to, that would be worth some money to me to fix.

I don't see a Weistec TCU tune listed for a W204 C63 either pre or post facelift.

Pretty sure they removed it. Adaptive shifting likely took over and people found the initial benefits were lost. Just a hunch

This was an issue way back w/ all tcu tunes if they didn't have the valve body upgraded as well

There are a few forum discussions on it!

Given how old this platform is, I’ve pretty much abandoned all hope that someone will be able to decrease the delay between paddle input and gear shift.

It really is a shame because using it in Sport Mode shows that the trans can be fast and aggressive, so the delay really is the issue.

find a wrecked '13/14 and swap in the driveline.

Cant imagine you'd have the worst time in the world doing it but I've never directly looked into it myself.

You could also just sell yours and buy a '13/14 but idk what kind of situation you're in.

Why the DCT appears to shift "slower" than the MCT cars when paddling even though the gear is already preloaded in the DCT is beyond my smooth brain comprehension.

Its not staggeringly different but its at least noticeable enough to spot and seems counter intuitive especially climbing through the gears.

There may be a solution. But it won’t be for another year.

All the DCT's including cla/gla easily outshift the automatics mct or not. Especially with black series software/firmware/tuning.

Weistec valvebody upgrade is trash. They cut the screens off of solenoids to allow slightly more flow. Not impressed.

Only thing I don't like about this transmission is that after a pull on the interstate it stays in the low gear for way too long. If my throttle position has been at 1/4 for a whole 20 seconds It's safe to say I'm no longer trying to go fast right now.

The gear change may happen quicker but the entire process itself with the DCT is slower than the MCT which is counter intuitive to the entire idea of what a DCT is from the staggering upshifts.

MCT's being inherently stronger from a design standpoint and easier/cheaper to manufacture not withstanding, you would expect the DCT to perform quicker overall since the foundation of how it operates is fundamentally faster than a straight-line auto but again...it doesnt.

I've been happy with the 100ms shift speed of the MCT. Comparing it to the DCT (we had an AMG GT-S as a 3 season car for a few years) the shift performance was comparable.

For any MCT car, you can manually reprogram / tailor the shift points using MB STAR. Cleans things up nicely for both regular and aggressive driving.

I think people misunderstand it's not the actual shift sowed that's slow... the shift speed is fairly fast... the speed when you request a shift while manually shifting and the shift happening is delayed.

This is precisely why I don't understand the true source of the issue. I understand the function and form, I don't understand the result.

The fundamental design of the DCT alludes to an idea that doesn't present in reality which is not a result of the DCT clearly but what else the issue is being caused by is beyond my feeble intelligence but its curiously annoying enough to entertain considering that its not just Mercedes DCT's that have this issue, it's across several different manufacturers besides the DSG which doesn't have the same problem.

Yeah I have no idea, if someone could figure it out they could make some $$ though for sure it's one of the most annoying parts of the car imo. It's just not that annoying to ruin the experience or warrant throwing big $$ at an alternative

just hold the right paddle down or tap it a few times and it will go into high gear much quicker, even in comfort, sport or sport + this will work.

with shelf tunes this gets inflated. with our tunes, since the engine is making more power, the transmission will actually upshift even sooner than the factory tune when driving normally. a few of our customers stated they wish this didn't occur, but with our tune being more accurate, the TCU will adapt to driver behavior faster than even the factory tune. If you begin driving more aggressively, within seconds the TCU. Will see that you're driving more aggressively thus changing its shift behavior to shift harder and faster and to upshift at higher rpm's when not at full throttle as to favor its internal performance drive mappings.

It's great when driving on twisty roads in the mountains. It's never in the wrong gear up there, so for that reason I wouldn't actually change it unless it somehow knew what I was doing. I would think that it would need to "see" and interpret steering input and/or lateral acceleration to do that. Probably not something this old car is capable of.

when all data is being fed optimally, yes, many things are factored in. one being the transmission shift mode which will change the shift mapping to suit the driving style. comfort should always upshift early and will respond slower to aggressive driving where as the sport or sport+ mode will upshift later and not upshift while in a turn. this is how our ECU tune functions with the factory TCU tune as expected by Mercedes AMG.

MB star does not have this capability or anything close to it. You have resetting gear shift adaptations / performing them and same for the mct. None of these functions manually program anything. Even without doing them they will adapt/learn to what they need to. Even if you enter the block data manually they will move into correct spec.
