Can't lock cam adjuster lashgear using timing tool - Why is this happening?
I am upgrading the lockplates on my 4 cam adjusters on my 2014 C63 507 Edition.
I am currently running into an issue where I can't get the lash gear lock tool to fit in either of my exhaust cam adjusters.
Timing Tool
I have been doing research and haven't found anybody running into this issue.
I was thinking of just filing a bit of metal off the stud of the timing tool to get it to fit. Is this ok? My only concern is that something is off with my timing that is causing the lash gear to not line up, however, I'm confident the timing is at 40 degrees.
Both valve covers off, timing may not be set yet in this picture, can't remember.
I had the exact same issue with one of the kits I purchased from Amazon. I took some emery cloth, wrapped it around the pin and sanded it down until it fit correctly. The process was painful (literally and figuratively) but in the end, no issues. The locking tool fit the adjusters.

Ya this is just poor quality tools, I had the rear cam lock bar be bent on arrival and got the kit replaced only to realize the bar isn't even hardened and it can be bent while using it and torquing the cam adjusters, so check the rear locking bar also for flatness before and during use.

Does this only happen with the Amazon/budget kits or did you get the $300-400 kit on FCP?
Just curious since the adjusters are on the list but acting okay at the moment.
