Auxiliary Oil Cooler Fan Delete
I read a lot of detached info on this and it's not quite talked about much.
I believe the BS cooler is larger and doesn't have fans. There was mention with the optional cooling package that it might not either?
Either way, the fan seems quite disruptive in terms of airflow. I thought I read that people have deleted it - is that true?
That way the air can flow directly to the cooler. [Yes, I don't have larger radiator upgrades for cooling, but this seems like it would maybe *marginally* help in slow traffic, which I never have.]

The fan is specifically for stop and go traffic to move air through the cooler when you're moving slowly. Removing the fan will help when moving fast and pushing it since airflow through the cooler will be increased.

Yeah, perhaps I phrased it badly but that's what I meant. I don't really face much stop and go traffic, so wondering it it's more effective to delete it. Surely, for short periods if there is traffic, the system can sustain itself?

Guess I'll try it.
I'll take a look at threshold values and monitor the oil temperature and report back eventually.

I’ve had that fan fail before. In NYC summer traffic the coolant temp would spike pretty high (260F+). I wouldn’t do it without the larger aux cooler.

I removed my auxiliary fan when I fitted SRG C63's bigger front oil cooler and sitting in Summer in Sydney peak hour traffic sits on 105C.
Yes it goes higher when pushing the car especially in manual mode.

Now that's an interesting. Has anybody done something similar? I would have imagined that the MB engineers thought it was necessary, so engineered this solution in the build.

I just joined the two oil pipes together where the old cooler was.
But I have had many high power turbo cars in the past.. I've only ever upgraded to a oil cooler of the size of the one in front bumper and you see similar on other modded cars..
I also believe some later models don't even have the aux oil cooler it was omitted at factory.
Im only saying mine has been fine without it for normal driving. And because mine had a stone through it and Mercedes told me 3 months and £1100 so as its just a daily run around to get work car it's not a major issue for me
