Shop recommendation for cam rebuild in Norcal

Hello fellow W204 enthusiasts---the time has finally come for my 2014 C63 at ~119k miles to have the top part of the engine rebuilt as I just got a CEL and the PO732 code for "The position of the exhaust camshaft (cylinder bank 1) deviates from the specified value" and it is probably time anyways.

I'd like to go the C63 motorsports route with stage 1 cams, black series tappets, and stage 1 phasers for the cam adjusters, but am not sure/am aware of if there is a shop nearby me that would support this service and allow for my sourcing my own parts for the work.

Does anyone have a recommendation for any shop they may have used in the past that is Northern California/ Bay Area located?

I'd really appreciate any of your recommendations here!

Thank you.

Most shops will let you supply the parts, infact I'm not sure I've ever heard of any that won't. Any reputable shop especially if they are familiar with amgs can do it it's not the most difficult job

Thanks very much for your reply!

I have never had a situation where I can't do the work myself and have not been accustomed to asking shops to provide the labor with my providing the parts, so this is good news to hear.

While I was hoping for some forum recommendations for trusted shops in the interim, and seeing none, I did my own research and I think found a great place to try my luck at: Bay Area Motor Works.

I'll report back to this forum on how this goes and what I end up doing to prolong the life of this beastly car.

Thanks for the suggestions, Peetsah!

I did end up going to Mercedes Service of Silicon Valley over Bay Area Motor Works in the end and my car is currently being worked on this week. So far so good---I really like how transparent and responsive the shop is.

Pictures for proof/heck of it:

Had the same code (saved as historic) recently but no CEL. I was also able to delete the code. Is this a clear indicator for worn cam lobes and lifters or could this be something else? Cam adjusters, timing chain?

Mine turned out to be a fluke. When they removed and replaced the valve covers there was no wear that warranted replacing the cams/adjusters/lifters.

They could not get the code to repeat and it was only if ever just a stored code, not a pending code. So, apparently I am in the clear here and the car is driving like new after the slew of maintenance items I had done there in addition to this proposed initial work scope of rebuilding the top end.

Not all phasers are faulty. Its fairly easy to check them to save some money.

Rotate crank to 40 and follow this
