M156 timing errors
Looking for some help on timing issues on an m156 engine.
car has been trowing al kinds of errors around timing
what i did so far:
changed exhaust position cam sensors
placed an new crankshaft position sensor
checked the solonoids for perhaps dirt or blocked chanals.
relearned the cam positions/adjusters
some codes went away while trying this things but p0012 p0022 p0015 p0025 ore the combination of these 4 : p0011 p0021 p0014 p0024 keep
coming back.
car has been rebuild (cylinder heads) and the mechanic says the timing was set right.
when the codes are erased cars runs good for a second. but they comeback immediatly. But as long as it runs on idle or without driving they dont come back dont know if this mathers something.
i also have the liva data of the cam positions while runing and giving gas i think i can upload them if somebody knows hoe to read this.
on idle its around -15 and 28
thanks already al help is apreciated!

Just looked at the code definitions, it is all 4 camshafts and no it would be odd all 4 failed mechanically at the same time for sure - fail by 90k miles yes but unlikely all at once.
My guess would be that if it was apart that maybe the mechanic mixed up the plugs on the sensor or solenoids.

Indeed it says 4 times
Continuous camshaft adjustment: incorrect position of the intake/exhaust camshaft
You mean trying to switch the cable from intake solonoid to exhaust solonoid? I could give that a try if the connectors are the same, i will have a look👍🏻

You could check a wiring diagram and figure out wire colors to figure out if switched the sensors are easy to switch also if they where u plugged but usually people don’t unplug those as the wires are long enough, the solenoids have to be unplugged to though to do any work. Also make sure the ground cable is attached to a bolt and wasn’t missed on that same harness with the solenoid plugs.

Just had a look, solenoids are not possible to mistake because as i saw there is 1 long cable for the lowest solenoid and one shorter cable for the intake.
If the cables would be put at the wrong sensor my idea would be that the data shown from the angle of crankshafts should be crossed right?
so the intake would be -15 and the exhaust 28 or is that not how it works?
Ground cables i also checked but they are both in place
starting to run out of ideas not sure where to look anymore
still hoping that someone can read something out of the angles that it shows while running before taking the camshafts covers of to check the timing

While i was brainstorming i now remembered there where some problems with a air leak at the connector for the brake booster, is there a possibility that an air leak affects the engine to adjust the variabel cams right?
(i think i’ve read it on some other topics with this kind of codes)

i would have to ask the mechanic, its not his first time working on the m156 so i think (and hope) he did that right…
could it be an bad engine controle module?
car runs fine when the codes are deleted and without driving they also dont return (even when reving)
car is trowing some esp problems “engine control module not identified” but thats the only place where i can find fault codes that relate the ecm
intake pressure was good when i checked so that can also not be te problem (previous post i was suggesting this about a possible air leak)
