Smoke from engine/rough idle
About a month ago I finished changing the Power Steering pump which then somehow lead to the radiator fan not working (bad luck i guess) This eventually lead me to find that the valve cover was leaking + loose screws on the right causing some smoke (also some oil leaked into the cylinder causing a misfire which shows us inactive now as this change seems to have fixed it) I ended up changing both gaskets left + right and all new screws and I made sure both covers had no cracks even hairline. At the same time I gave the car a nice oil change with oil straight from the dealer.
I must admit I made some rookie mistakes in all of this, one being after taking the valve covers off, i covered the internals over the course of a couple of nights before the new gasket arrived with some plastic film, this seemed to not have been enough as it caused some slight orange discoloration that I didn't notice before on the passenger side internals but i made sure to oil everything up properly and it didn't look or feel like rust.
After putting it all back together a few issues seem to have come up -
- There is still a bit of smoke coming up from the engine bay on both sides although I see no visual oil leaks from the top - I hope and assume it's old leaked oil still burning up? (The exhaust is also slightly smoking but seems to be due to the cold and condensation built up over this time)
- The engine now sounds to be running a bit more rough with a slight ticking although the ticking may be because it hasn't run in a long time! Could this be due to the oil change and it needs some time to settle?
- I get a new error code P2359 Cylinder 10 pressure variation low, potenitally need to refit spark plugs?
- I also got an error code for rad fan p0695 Engine coolant blower motor 3 circuit low
Has anyone encountered any of these issues? Any insight would be appreciated! I don't want to take many risks with the car in it's current state, espeically the engine, but would love to get some answers before going to a mechanic, thank you!
