TCS Light On

Hello everyone,

After doing my engine mounts, my steering wheel is at roughly the 2:30-2:45 position. I believe this is why my TCS light is on, but I also had to replace my battery.

Do I need to drop my steering rack and physically turn the column back to center? or will taking it in for alignment fix all of my issues?

You are suppose to mark the steering shaft and coupler when you take them apart so you can realign. A wheel alignment isn't needed unless your wheels were out prior. You are going to have to go realign the shaft or take the steering wheel off and recenter it. And to your other question yes this is why your stability assist/traction is deactivated

Will taking the wheel off and placing it center fix it as the shaft is physically out of alignment? I’d prefer to do it that way.

I had my oil pan seal done a couple weeks back, had to drive the car like 8 miles away to get an alignment since the subframe was dropped. About 2 miles in to the trip the IC totally lit up and said TC, adaptive cruise, lane keeping assist, etc. was all disabled. Got the alignment, reset the codes, and i was good to go.

no you can reset the wheel. Much easier than realigning the shaft.

Do you know the Torque rating for the center bolt?
