P0171 and P2187 Fixed
Hoping this helps someone else in the future. CEL for P0171 and P2187 came up for lean condition bank 1 and Lean Condition bank 1. The CEL happened coincidentally after I changed my valve cover gaskets. I'm thinking that leaning on and nudging the IM during the valve cover gasket job may have disturbed or compressed the IM gasket ever so slightly causing a minor leak.
Either way, many threads indicated that this was either a PCV or a intake manifold gasket leak. I ordered both the IM gaskets, bolts and PCV valve. I decided to continue to mess around while waiting for the parts. I tightening up the IM bolts, some of the bolts felt way too loose, I followed the torque down pattern and gave each h bolt 45-90 degrees depending on how loose they felt. The codes haven't come back after 100 miles, it usually trips the light after 20. I recalled a few DIY videos noting that their IM bolts were a bit on the loose side which is why I decided to give this a shot.
I am aware that the aluminum bolts are single use torque to yield. If you decide to "tighten them up a bit" you can run the risk of overdoing/snapping one off. Just wanted to share something that worked for me!
