Error When Engaging Race Start on 2024 C63S E Performance
Hi everyone,
I recently took delivery of my 2024 C63S E Performance and have put about 200 miles on it so far. I'm encountering an issue with the Race Start function. Despite meeting all the typical conditions for use, every time I try to engage Race Start, I receive an error message stating, "Race Start not possible, see owner's manual" or something similar.
Here's what I've ensured before attempting to engage Race Start:
Vehicle is in Race Mode
Battery is approximately 75% charged
Engine and transmission temperatures are up
Vehicle is on a flat surface
Transmission is set to "D"
Firmly depress the brake and then rapidly floor the gas
I have reviewed the user manual, and it seems like I am following all of the correct steps. The manual does not specifically state that a break-in period is required for Race Start. However, it does mention elsewhere a 1000-mile break-in period. Could this be impacting the Race Start function?
Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions on what might be going wrong or how to fix it?

I believe Race Start will only become available once you have passed the break in period of 1500 miles. Try again once you are passed that.
I'm amazed the OP didn't realize that he needed to get past his break-in period...."amazed" is by far the nicest word I can think of. Whether the manual makes an explicit declaration or not, common sense has to play a part. Not trying to be a jerk, but C'mon man!!!
I am having a problem also. My car has over 3000 miles on it..I set it to drag race, put to s+, take traction control off and I press on the brake and it will only go to 2000 rpm.

You have to be past the break in period of 1000 miles for this to work.
Are you referring to the downshift paddle or up-shift?
I don't know what the launch rpm is with the W206, but like with the FL W205, once Race Start is engaged and before you let off the brakes, you can adjust the launch rpm using the shift paddles. Press either the downshift or the upshift paddle to decrease or increase the launch rpm. In the W205 FL it was 100 rpm at the time, so if you want to increase the launch rpm by 300 rpm, press the upshift paddle three times. With the W205 you mostly have to decrease it a few 100 rpm, otherwise it's just wheel spin all the way.

I was going to mention this. Unless the dealer removed it during PDI, it’s kinda hard to miss.
To each their own, no hate from me. I have several friends in the “drive it like you stole it” category and “I gotta seat those rings” category. But my mechanical sympathy, I guess you’d call it, had me shivering reading what OP wrote

Your car has to be warmed up first. All the bars have to be in white, nothing in blue.
