2015 C63 to Debut in Paris; Engine Output between 450-600 Horsepower; 110 lbs Lighter
http://www.autoweek.com/article/2014...NEWS/140209983
"Further details remain scarce, but AMG insiders suggest the M117 may support an output between 450 and 600 hp. Since the outgoing C63 AMG's naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 is already good for 451 hp, its replacement is expected to up the ante to somewhere in the region of 480 hp. Forced induction, present in the C-class based performance sedan for the very first time, should also help extend its torque reserves beyond the 443 lb-ft of its predecessor."
Other interesting highlights:
"The adoption of a new aluminum-intensive platform structure and an predominately aluminum body shell ensures the increase in size will not have a big effect on curb weight, with Mercedes-Benz claiming savings in the region of 110 pounds, compared to the steel-bodied third-generation model."
"The new C63 AMG eschews the air suspension that is being made available as an option on various new C-class models for the first time, receiving a heavily reworked version of its more conventional steel-sprung arrangement with unique track widths, firmer springs and dampers, altered elastokinematics and a lowered ride height."
"We got a preview of the look on standard versions of the C-class fitted with the optional AMG optic package. But the C63 AMG will go further, featuring a heavily structured front fascia with sizeable air ducts to provide more efficient engine bay cooling, AMG's latest blade grille treatment, reworked hood, heavily flared front fenders, wider sills and a deeper rear bumper that houses trapezoidal chromed tailpipes."
The Paris Motor Show reveal is in September.

But 480 horsepower standard? More torque?
110 pounds lighter?
Even better suspension than the LCI W204 C63?
Sounds like this is shaping up to be an F80 M3 killer.

If you're being a smart @ss, you know what you can do.
Regardless, It's all bullsh@t until AMG officially unveils the car.
I'm not worried.
I'll simply buy a better car in the Audi S6 or a faster car from GM if AMG makes a FAILURE of the C63 by not offering BOTH a modern DCT and AWD.

What GM car is going to have AWD and DCT?
S6 can't even stand up beside an existing W204 C63 with rear drive and MCT
Start thinking up the excuses as to why you got pumped in your S6 by that W205 C63 when it comes out
They only failure here is your logic

That's exactly my point...What makes a RWD MCT C63 a fail, but a GM RWD crapbox auto a better alternative?
What do you think a tuned TT 4L C63 that makes 480hp stock will run?

Don't even bother. I've tried to have a reasonable discussion with him but his stance is that anything Mercedes-Benz AMG makes with RWD is a complete failure.

Is the Corvette a crapbox?
Is the 2014 SS Sedan a crapbox?
Is the CTS-V a crapbox?
I would own ALL of them before I would own a C63 RWD.

I don't care.
A luxury sports sedan without AWD and DCT is second class in 2014.
But, a 2015 C63 with a V8 TT, DCT, and AWD will be the ultimate daily driver if AMG has the common sense to build it.
As far as timeslips, nothing AMG sells will run with my Corvette, so again, I don't care.

Wow great article.
between 450 and 600hp ???. really?
then one line later in the region of 480 hp.
will it have between 3 and 6 wheels but most likely in the region of four wheels?

If AMG doesn't have the common sense to give the next C63 DCT and AWD, the C400 will probably make a good, cheap daily beater.
I am excited to hear what they will run with a custom tune, even though that sluchbox transmission will hamper performance and driving enjoyment.
They better price it right since it has a 2nd class transmission and a tiny little 3.0L V6.

Yes...they all have crapbox auto tranny's....compared to the MCT...I'm not saying a DCT wouldn't be better, but I am saying the MCT is better than anyone of your examples
The simple fact that you grouped the SS Sedan in a comparison with a C63 shows you know nothing and you deserve what you drive

OK.
I'll be your Huckleberry.
Only an idiot would choose a slushbox over GM's manual transmission.
A manual transmission is the only choice for any self respecting car enthusiast and NOT an option with AMG. Hmmmmmmmmm
Even though the lack of a manual option for 2014 is inexcusable for the SS Sedan, it's still a great sports sedan with broad aftermarket support.
Wait to you see the 3,600lb Alpha chassis with a LT1 and TR6070 that's coming for 2016.
It's going to humble many euro douches.
Regardless, the addition of a ECS centri system, headers and a meth injection system will net 750rwhp reliably for $8,000 on a GM V8. The GM V8 is the best engine money can buy based on power, size, weight, reliability, simplicity, after market support, cost, etc.
The ONLY reason I am even considering a German sedan is for AWD and DCT.

One second you're "DCT or FAIL" and the next second you're "6SPD manual is the only way to go"?
Pull your tampon out before you pop a gasket...you're all over the place

I'm just wondering, in the latest Lambos, they have a DCT, in the GTR, they have DCT, the Veyron has DCT too, any ideas what makes MB say it's not strong enough to have DCT (?).
