I had the opportunity to drive an F80 M3 yesterday. My current car is a 2012 C63Coupe and before that I had an E90 M3. I always felt that the C63 was a better daily driver then the E90 ever was with loads of torque and very sporty yet smart interior...but always felt it was missing something in handling compared to my E90. Does not feel as planted and you can feel the extra weight. I can tell you this, the F80 now has loads of torque plus the advantage of superior handling to the C63. I also liked the cockpit a bit better then my current C63. Feels smaller and more driver oriented (I like that). I have no doubt mercedes will counter with a capable W205 C63 and I am in love with the pictures that we have seen of the interior. If you have the time to wait, the I would wait and compare both, but I dont think you would be dissapointed with either.
Oh, and as for the sound, not as refined a sound as the E90 or C63, but it is not a quiet car. It is loud and has presence. I agree not even close to the C63...I love the backfire and popping we get on up and downshifts...you do not get that in the M3.

Just saw an M3 and an M4 at the BMW dealer in my town and they look hot.

M3 in Yas Marina blue (baby blue metalic) and M4 in Austin Yellow (metalic yellow).

The M3 looks really bad *** with those flared fenders in the rear.

They just dynoed a customer's (see bimmerpost) M3 425 hp at the wheels and 425 tq at the wheels. so around 475 hp at the crank for a car that weighs around 3575 pounds. no wonder it does 0-100 mph in 8.8 sec.

The pilot super sport (255/35 in front and 275 /35 in the back look realy meaty.

Still thinking about ordering one.

The w205 looks a little soft.

okay granted we haven't seen the car without camo but still.

still undecided

BMW's interiors are just too outdated for my taste. Looks like what you would expect to see from a 1980 volvo.

I love the M3 and I really LOVE the M4. The interior of both vehicles are a big let down though. The Instrument cluster is extremely painful to look at.
I hope the C63 will have an aggressive exterior, but I doubt it will.

Cars.
I may be in the minority when I say I think the new M3/M4 look hideous. I HATE the lights connecting to the front grille, and the rear lights like bug eyes. They bubble out. The new C class, to my eyes looks much better. The e92 looked better then the current C-Coupe though.

With the carbon fiber trim and the 2 tone leather it doesnt look all that bad. Granted the w205 is the best interior by far. Im just hoping that the c 63 will be able to put the power down this time, on stock tires please.

Have recently viewed a couple of video comparisons from a couple of the main magazine company articles of the new M4 vs current C63 coupe and the C63 was the preferred choice.

I suspect they would say the same of the new M3 vs current C63 sedan.

I know it's all subjective to the individual but just going by that if the current C63's can more than match up to the the new M3/4 then I'd be inclined to certainly wait for the new C63's before making a decision.
Regarding interiors, I don't think MB/AMG's got anything to worry about, the new C Class interiors are so far ahead of what both BMW and Audi have to offer in the same class.
Exterior will be subjective and we'll just have to wait and see the finished products.
After reading up on all the latest literature on the new AMG 4.0ltr TTV8, there's no doubt which engine choice most would prefer, I think BMW will loose out to both AMG and Audi in that area.

I test drove a m4 and I have to say it sounds nothing compared to the AMGv8

Being a e46 m3 owner, I really think the new m4 interior is so bad, it's out dated and appears old fashioned.

M4 vs C63

Just test drove the M4 for over an hour hour today on a twisty road. While the handling is awesome the steering feel and the sound were disgusting at the least specially after coming out of my 507.
Even the BMW salesman beside me admitted that the turbo has let the legendary M3 brand down. I think M just lost its way while chasing Porsche's turbo technology which is invincible. While it is faster than my 507 on paper, i think its just a disgrace to M motorsports given how good the E92/E93 were.

Hope AMG doesn't disappoint us with W205; just scared as its predecessor has raised the bar just too high.

The W205 C63 will not disappoint. It has all the proper ingredients. The interior alone will be head and shoulders above the competition. I really think this car will be something special.

Just wait and be cautious. Wait and see what the car magazine gets out of it, at least you would have a first hand indication. Month ago I have my suspicions about the CLA 45 and its ability of trapping decent trap speeds on the 1/4 mile. I also guessed(very well) that the turbo was pushing too much to make power, I was dead on on both of my own guess.

Just wait and see how this brand new turbo design performs. This is truly a innovated engine from scratch. As per the M-3, we already know that the engine is a beast and can make an additional 100-125hp and 100lb-tq with simple tunes. I would expect nothing less from a bigger displacement forced induction AMG engine.

You just have to trust that previous monkey-donkey AMG engineers don't make the same mistake of putting bicycle 255's tires on the new C63 AMG.

I'm not sure I agree with that. With a tune folks are seeing 60 hp gains and tune plus DP will get you 90. I don't think that's bad at all. Definitely not maxed from the factory.

Supposedly BMW is supposed to announce a X drive variant of the new M3/M4 in a couple days or so. (Heard this on a forum).

I HIGHLY HIGHLY doubt that. The next generation M5, plausible, the F8x M3/M4...No.
