New M3 or wait for new C63?
Hi guys,
I want a 4 door performance car. (soon to have a baby)
I will use it as a daily driver.
I also live in the north east so rear wheel drive is really not ideal.
And no I don't want to drive a beater through the winter.
option 1: new M3 2015
plus side:
I can get one in about 3 to 4 months top if I order now.
Nice colors I like the blue one.
looks reallly good.
not too heavy.
minus:
only 425 hp
6 cylinder engine
a bit pricey (DCT +3000$)
rear wheel drive for winter
engine sound is a matter of taste but so so IMO.
option 2: wait for next C63
plus side:
gorgeous interior (cant wait to see the C63's should be awesome)
V8 with 480hp and probably a 500-520 hp version
Maybe AWD "S" version ???? who knows?
(yeah i know they said no AWD, we will see ...you never know)
nicer sound
more straight line performance.
probably less costly than the M3 (but no maintenance included)
minus:
I have to wait until next spring
So what do you think: M3 or wait for the next C63

I'm ordering mine next summer. It's going to suck waiting, but I'd much rather wait then compromise.

I would wait until both are released so you can drive each car.
I've been burned before by being impatient.
You're going to kick yourself if you purchase the M3, drive the W205 C63 later, and fall in love with the latter.

New generation on both and I would not buy first model year. Buy a 2014 C63 and then decide when the new C63 and new M3 are released. Holy crap, that's what I did.

Paul, wait for the new C63, you are so used to a honking V8 right now, that if you downsize to a 6 cylinder, you will be extremely dissappointed. Part of the euphoria you are experiencing in your current vehicle can be transferred to the new C63, yes it will be a smaller displacment but it will still have that V8 sound that hits all the right sensory buttons. The six bangers simply dont have that rush I think that V8's give you. Besides, BMW is struggling with keeing up with the "Jonses"....if anything you want to compare to the C63, why dont you take a look at the new Jags with the big V8, have some fun killing time while you wait for your C63! Take care

traditionally, C63 Sedan > M3 Sedan, M3 coupe >> C63 Coupe for there respective purposes. ppl get a high performance Coupe for track performance with the added benefit of practicality, and ppl get high performance sedans for a rocket bunny touring, track days are an afterthought. Get the C63 the new M3/4 are a step backwards.

Just heard the new m3 sounds and it sounds horrible. Even people on bimmerpost are discusted.
Was close to putting a deposit on an m3... Now that idea is off the table.
The thing is that the new c63 sounds really crappy compared to the 6.2l c63. You can barely hear the exhaust from the c63 w205 in the video that has been posted.

I'd wait for the new C63. That way you'd be able to compare both. Personally the new M3 sounded not that great and will never sound as nice as a V8 even if it's twin turbo.

I agree to wait until both are out. The only thing that would seal the decision is if you wanted manual transmission. In that case, you can only go with the M cars. Otherwise, I'd wait and see.

So it seems the new M3/4 is making more power than suggested.
We suspect it to be power at the wheels
