C63 W205 Widebody

Ok so I really really like the W205 and i already have a deposit on it. I love the car as it is but I'm thinking about doing a custom widebody right away.

i don't mind the flat rear panels but wider rear panels would be pretty great

what do you guys think? good or bad idea

I agree with you the only thing that this car is missing is the wider body in the back, something discreet in a way that combines elegance and and speed.

Both M3-M4 have wider rears.

I've no idea really what you are looking for here, but FWIW here is my response.

Reasons to do it:

- Will look better
- Will allow you to get a wider rear tyre and add some badly needed traction

Reasons not to do it:

- To do it properly will cost a bomb
- Most of this money will be lost when you sell the car
- There is no reference to use, so getting the design right will take skill and lots of time
- Your car will be off the road for a long time, just after you have bought it and want to drive it
- It will potentially compare poorly when the BS comes out which will inevitably have a wide body

Wobble did this on his W204 and it looks great. But he had the BS as a reference. If I remember well it cost him around USD 20-30k.

Looking at the pictures of that VW, all I can say is you get what you pay for.

Have a look at Wobble's W204 sedan (this is what it looks like done right):

https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...ck-series.html

You dont need the BS to come out in sedan form (as you are correct, it wont) to copy its wide body look onto a sedan.

If I were you, I'd wait for aftermarket companies to release widebody kits for it. It'll be more cost effective and you at least will have the option to revert back vs a metal widebody. I'm sure Wald or Prior Design (just to name a couple) will have a kit for it in the first year.

That is what is called being really impatient!!!
I wouldn't do a cheap job to a new car right away. Wait until you see the car in person and know it a little bit better. Aftermarket companies will probably offer different options as well. Ideally you would wait for the BS to come out and see.

Those widebody jobs look terrible.

Look at that sti hatch with purple wheels. Dude that looks awful and wrecked. I'm almost at a loss of words...

I wouldn't touch the w205. And if I did you can be sure they wouldn't just be riveting in pieces but cutting up the metal, forming it, lots of grinding welding etc etc etc.

I just don't get why people do these things to cars. It looks awful and it's just plain tacky.

well when i meant wide body i meant flared fenders in the rear and a little more in the front. kind of like a black series car.

Why bother though? It will never look like what the factory would do nor will it be the same quality.

There are some very clean and factory looking conversions out there for sure, they just cost quite a bit.

I'd wait to see if/what the new BS has to offer

I have a feeling that wald or prior designs will come out with something too. It just takes some time for R&D to make sure we get good products.

LTMW does solid work. My brother owns a E91 M3 conversion that was done there, the body work is flawless. Paint is perfect. I have seen tons of Liberty Walk body kits they fit on E90's and E92s but I am not a fan of that open rivet look. If theres anyone I would trust to do a clean widebody conversion, it would be the team at LTMW.

yup LTMW and EAS are the only two shops that worked on my 335i. If i do go wide body they are the ones that will do it.

I would also consider using TAG Motorsports in San Diego and they do exemplary work. Look up the very famous b8.5 rs4 sedan conversion they built.
