Im starting to think the performance exhaust and the regular exhaust are the same? The difference seems to be the fact that you can choose how loud you want the exhaust on all modes. Whereas on the standard exhaust the valves open and close depending on what mode youre in. If thats the case ill keep it in sport all the time lmao

I only drove the car with the Performance Exhaust. I would rather have that and not have to spend a ton on a aftermarket system.

are you positive on this? I heard otherwise from the MB dealer but they can be wrong.

that may be true - but the members here have also said the same thing about the exhaust as the dealer, that being it just adds flaps its not actually louder, whereas now he is saying - the performance exhaust is much louder then the stock one and that quiet mode on the performance exhaust is like the sound of the reg stock exhaust.
if this is true - i would buy the performance exhaust, but if it isn't any louder and just adds options to make it quieter and what not with the flaps, then for me i don't see the point of an performance exhaust as I would want it loud constantly.

I am pretty sure that Chris Harris talked about the exhaust system in detail!
So unless the standard C63 and is getting an exhaust system with the 3 flaps then I don't see why we are even talking about this.
Did someone hear/read that the standard C63 is also getting the 3 flaps?

Waiting for 2017 E63 S 4MATIC

Performance exhaust flaps:
1. In the link tube (located in the front third of the exhaust)
2. Left loud route
3. Right loud route
Standard exhaust has only the flap in the link tube.
Performance exhaust has two routes (loud and quiet). Standard exhaust has only one route which is between loud and quiet (closer to loud).
AMG Two-mode Sports Exhaust System
From typical AMG to restrained, the sound of the AMG sports exhaust system adapts to the currently selected transmission mode by means of a variably adjustable exhaust flap. The electric exhaust flap is infinitely variably controlled across the entire engine speed range by means of maps stored in the transmission mode. A blip on the throttle (in transmission mode S) and a misfire (in transmission modes S+ and Race) emphasise the sporty characteristics of the particular transmission modes. An attractive look is ensured by two chrome-plated twin tailpipe trim elements.
AMG Performance Exhaust System
Two additional exhaust flaps allow for even greater differentiation of the sound characteristics. The sound characteristics of the AMG Performance Exhaust System are dependent on the currently selected transmission mode and fully adapt to the currently selected transmission mode by means of three variably adjustable exhaust flaps – from full-sounding in transmission modes C and S to emphatically sporty in transmission modes S+ and Race. Control of the exhaust flaps is dependent on both engine speed and load, guaranteeing a 100% power delivery. The driver can also change the sound characteristics at the press of a button. If desired, the cold start noise can be reduced in transmission modes C and S. This optional extra allows a maximum spread of the sound, from comfortable to highly emotive.

Here's a real world example of the performance exhaust on the GT S. Scroll to the 1:50 mark.
