I told him I was closely watching for the release of the configurator and that most people believe it (the configurator) will be released any day now. I also mentioned that some people were mentioning around April as a potential build/production date for their pre-ordered cars....does that sound familiar? He said those people are crazy.

I quickly realize he had another objective as he quickly pointed out that they have a few 2014 C63s on the lot and "no sense in waiting until November when you can have one now." I quickly pointed to my M4 on the lot and said I'm only interested in moving from that to the new C63S. I really like what they did with the new engine and body style. Plus I need four doors -- I'm not settling for anything less. The conversation quickly went to how the new CLA AMG is a good substitute for my M4. I thanked him for his time and decided this is not the dealership I want to work with.

Before I call BS on this, can someone please enlighten me on what the truth might be for the release date for the C63S? If he is telling the truth, okay...I learned something new today. If not, please provide me the name of a competent dealership here in SoCal that I can work with. I'm willing to work over the phone and may even drive a bit if its worth it -- but I will not be giving the dealer 15 minutes from my home any of my money.
what dealership did you end up going too?

I really don't want to out the guy or the dealer. I'll just say I'm North of San Diego and South of Riverside in SoCal. My hope was to get more facts on the release date (if known) and figure out how to get on the waiting list. He didn't seem interested in anything other than selling me what was on the lot. Waiting until November at this point is a nonstarter. If this is true, I'll put my research on hold until September and just continue enjoying my current car.

Just as I thought. Just got off the phone with a dealer just north of me. He's willing to work with me so I'll sit down with him tomorrow. Thanks.

Keep us posted DocPhil. The fact that they haven't released pricing or put up the configurator with production looming is annoying. Great insight in this thread.

Question

Okay, I've made my decision and would like some help from the forum. I'm looking for dealer recommendations. I've had conversations with two dealers here in SoCal and have had no luck in learning the process for ordering. I know many of you have already ordered your C63S so there must be a process in place.....right? I'm looking to place a deposit and have my specs ready to go.

I'm not sure if there is a way to contact me directly but I'd like to get recommendations on which dealer(s) I should contact. Preferably the name of a knowledgeable person who can take my deposit check, my specs, and give me details on how special orders work. Thanks again everyone.....!

My options:

- 463 – AMG Head Up Display
- 662 – 19” AMG Cross-Spoke Forged – Black
- 320pkg – Multimedia Package
- 389pkg – Hands Free Package
- 413 – Pano Roof (if not standard option)

Anyway, like many of you I'm waiting on the official release of the C63S configurator so I can take a look at a potential build. Without going into many details, I recently began thinking about selling my 2015 BMW M4 for the C63S. There are many personal reasons for considering this but the main reason is I need four doors. Why not the M3? Well, I don't track my cars so my underlying fear is I won't enjoy the best of the M as a daily driver. After my break in service, I pushed the car quite a bit but still felt the quickness was not where I expected. I'm not sure if the true power of the M is revealed on the track or not -- but I don't feel it. The overall power of the C63S appears to have what I'm looking for but I won't know until I can get behind the wheel and do a butt dyno.

With that said, are there others out there that share my situation? Specifically, any M4 (M3) owners out there considering the C63/S? I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts? Thanks...!
I've had several AMGs: CLS63, C63 Black Series, and now S63 Coupe. All fine, luxurious, well built, and most notable: the technology is far superior than Audis and BMWs from my experience. Oh, and they sound amazing. It makes sense that you want to jump to the C63 because you need 4-doors. I sold my Audi RS7 and rarely ever had anyone sit in the rear (maybe 2 occasions) so I needed a fun daily driver and the M4 fit the bill. Test drive the C63 and determine if its more exciting than the M4. I plan on test driving the C63 as well.

One reason I love my C63 is because of the sound(s) it makes. In my opinion, a raucous but well-tuned exhaust note contributes greatly to the driving experience.

If there was no other reason, do it for the sound. That emotional, unduplicated sound that AMG produces is alive and well in the new C63!

Only BWM that I've owned was a 2007 X5, which was a great family vehicle under warranty (I have a 6 and 8 year old). However during the last year of warranty, the car started rapidly falling apart and out of warranty the list of issues continued. I was holding onto the X5 waiting for the impending release of the Tesla Model X (I put a deposit on 2 years ago and still waiting...), but had to dump the X5 and temporarily replace it with a 2014 ML 350... The ML doesn't drive as well as the X5 but is much more luxurious and we have had no issues so far (still waiting for that damn Tesla Model X, though).

For my DD, I have owned 2 C63 AMG's with no issues whatsoever, except for an antennae failure in my 1st car that was replaced under warranty. I have a C63 S edition 1 on order, and I can't be any more excited for it to come in (mine is scheduled to reach me in July 2015). I honestly am more than satisfied with my current 2009 C63 AMG as a DD/kid baseball/soccer/dance transporter and sometimes weekend fun car that substitutes for my Ferrari. No other car but a C63 or M3 (possibly ISF) can do all of these real world things well if you don't mind paying a bit for gas. You can literally transport your comfortable family sedan into a raging monster when you roll down the windows and roll into the throttle. The sound of the AMG engine and exhaust crackles and farts can bring a big smile to your face when you are down. I have recently looked for a replacement in a GTR, 911, and Model S p85, but none of them have the whole package that I am looking for.

I live in San Diego and have learned to buy my new cars in Orange County or in Los Angeles which are both bigger, more competitive markets. I usually go online to a few dealers and you can figure out who the Fleet managers are.

I usually email 3 or 4 of them with what I'm willing to pay and there is usually 1 or 2 who will engage you and do the deal. With a new model like the C63 you might not be able to do the typical $500 or $1,000 over invoice deal that I look for. If you belong to USAA you can always talk to them about their car buying program which is pretty great. My BMW lease isn't up until next March so I haven't started my contacts yet. Good luck.

I actually went from an E90 M3 to an older E55 believe it or not. Love the M brand but the lack of power and torque is a killer. I'll be cross shopping the C63S and M3 when the time comes.

You have a very nice stable of cars! I would listen to this guy!

Can't wait to hear your impressions of the C63S.

Currently Looking
lol I just recently transferred my M4 lease and now in the market for a new car. I've been following the C63S since zibby posted the first pics on bimmerpost. Now the C63S is at the top of my list. My M4 was not a bad car but not the car for me. I sense this is the case with you. Get what makes you happy. If four doors is what makes you happy then do it.

BMW M4 (currently)

I am not gonna deny, I like the attention the m4 gets. Most of the time. It is special. But I don’t get to drive it much here with the road conditions. It is not safe to ride my kids around on slick mountain roads when it snows.

And I will attest to the tire issue. I’m on my 3rd set of rear tires and only have 17k miles on it. Still sporting plenty of life on the same front tires. ;-)

1) Personally I liked the C63 better than the previous gen M3, they were "different cars" but for everyday driving the C63 can be best described as "more fun" by most who have driven both. On the track most people would have taken the M3, but I don't track my cars (no time, busy with a young family).

2) I switched to the 335 xdrive because my C63 had some engine issues (won't go into details, nothing common and wouldn't stop me from buying another one) that scared me out of owning it after the warranty was over, and since at that time it was the end of life cycle for both the M3 and C63 I decided to get a more efficient car with AWD to hold me over until NOW! and I love the decision I made as the F30 335 has been a great car for me.

3) I have gone back and forth on what to get for my next car, have a 4 and 6 year old so 4 doors is a must as they are in my car every day and its just easier with 4 doors. Having owned a C63 in the past and loving the driving experience (personally I don't mind the transmission, most BMW M owners would say they could never drive a non DCT...), I am really considering a C63 (why I am on these boards), but M3 is also something special, best M3 to date, and its interior is a ton better than the old one as well.

Like you if I go to the C63 its most likely going to be the "S" version as I think it will only be about $5K price difference when loaded the same as the regular (I know the base will be higher than that but it comes with a lot more standard than the regular one). I think the C63 will be more fun to drive on a daily commute, the interior is amazing (except for ipad screen with 2" border ) I personally like the exterior, maybe not as much as the M3, but enough that its not a negative to me, however I will only consider it if they offer the bright red and blue colors shown in pictures (which is not certain in the US right now!).

a few things to consider with Mercedes/AMG and the C63

-maintenance is not included, I believe the 4 year 40,000 plan (BMW is 50,000 mile included) will cost about $2,400 extra, gotta add that to the base cost of the car when comparing them

-you will burn through rear tires like crazy (I was going through them every 6K miles driving conservatively while my father could go 12K-15K in his M3), just the crazy torque and aggressive stance of the C63.

-The M3 gets more recognition, by that I mean more people know what it is, this isn't a negative to Mercedes but most people look at the C63 as another Mercedes, while with the M3 the same people somehow know its different, not sure exactly why that is. And some people don't care but I gotta say when I drop $75K on a car its nice to get compliments on it! who doesn't like compliments, makes you feel all warm inside

I have had two M3's and a ESS Tuned 335i and loved how all of them drove. Thought the M3's cornered on rails but always thought they lacked torque. My C63 is definitely a lot more fun to drive. The torque in this car makes me smile every time I press the gas pedal. Only drive it in S+ and with Exhaust open. The M3's I always ran in S5 or 6 and they were fun but didn't have that flare that the C63 has. When I bought my C63 I drove the M4 first. The price was very close but again I thought the torque wasn't there. After test driving the M4, I went to the MB dealership and started the C63. The C63's sound is absolutely invigorating! Before even driving the car I thought this is going to be fun! I felt the C63 had a lot more pull than the M4 and was so much fun to drive. The interior is awesome compared to my older SL55 I had previously and I thought it was nicer than the M4. Don't get me wrong, the M4 is a great car to drive but it is lacking the shear power that the C63 has. I agree with most people here that the M4 is probably a better track car but I have not intention of tracking my car so that doesn't matter to me. Like WatchWho, I can't drive my car all year because of the weather conditions so I bought a GLC43 for the winter. It is fun but nothing like my C63.

I have owned 2 M3's as well and this is exactly how I feel.

M3 handles way better, but there's definitely much less torque.

And the SOUND? NO COMPARISON!!! The M3/M4 sounds weak unless you really rev it and the C63S sounds ridiculously bad *** all the time!

The M3/M4 you really have to push to enjoy the handling and the sound. The C63S, you can enjoy it coming to a stop and listening to the ridiculous crackle's from the downshifts.

2018 C63 Coupe
I had four M cars before switching. I was about to buy my fifth, a ZCP M4 in Yas Marina Blue. Then I tried the C63 coupe and immediately changed my mind. The M4 sounds like garbage, it's perceived as a d-bag or high schooler's car around here, and they are very common. Not trying to **** on M cars, the new M5 is savage. But I'm being 100% real about the state of the M3/M4.

So I moved BMW and M to AMG. I used to have an E60 M5 fully done up over 600hp V10 motor. Was totaled so I got a F10 550i afterwards and just wasn't happy with it. I looked into getting an F10 M5 but too big I thought, felt more like a boat compared to the C63S and the C63S could beat the F10 M5 so obviously it wasn't hard to choose between. M3 sounded horrible at least the newer M3's and I'm a big sedan guy.

You just echoed why i opted for the C63 this time around. I still have my F80 (2 more months left on the lease), and had a ZCP M4 on order. Drove the C63 and made a deal that day...

Lots of young kids driving around in the F8x platform putting stupid mods on them. Time to 'adult'

I own both. A 2016 M3 and a 2017 C63S, and here is the best way that I can describe them. Both are great cars, but...

If you want to take a stripper home, get the C63S. If you want to take the prom queen home, get the M3.
