If you tried the new m3/m4 or even the e92 generation dct which is decent - not as good as the new platform of course - or any P car PDK - or say GT-R then the shifts of the w204 will feel slow and laggy.

Of course if you compare to say - a normal auto like a c class 3 series ect.. then I would say w204 is fine.

At the end of the day - neither the w204 or w205 is a true DCT so for me it was one of the major concerns being that I cannot test drive the car before buying, I have to get as much info from people that have already picked one up and see their experiences.
Thank you sir!

I driven both the F80 M3 and F82 M4 many times. I get to drive the M4 almost weekly now as a good friend of mine has one. As I said above, I agree that the M-DCT is the quicker and more consistent transmission, particularly with respect upshifts in full M mode.

I almost ended up in an E92 M3 Lime Rock Park Edition before I chose my '13 C63 sedan. The M-DCT in that car was more immediate across the board as well (compared to the MCT). However, it had a nasty tendency to "surge" (accelerate violently) and "buck" (engine brake severely) when someone (aka, DCT newbs) feathered the throttle in one of the more aggressive automatic modes. Not a fun feeling as a passenger lol. The F8Xs I've driven did not have that characteristic.

The MCT, on the other hand, was buttery smooth in C and S modes. After thousands of miles with the MCT, S+ really impresses me (100-millisecond shifts). It comes the closest to replicating the immediacy of the DCT in auto. mode. Donwshifts in M aren't quite as fast as those generated by the M-DCT but they're pretty darn close.

With respect to upshifts, the M-DCT is clearly superior.

Did you formerly own a MCT-equipped C63? Have you pulled the trigger on the W205 yet?

I wasn't sure as to which M car you were referring to - as there are differences. Thanks for the clarifying.

I am ready to put a deposit down for a 16 model I just cannot decide on colour... between white and black.

I just wanted to make sure and hear feedback from other people before ordering - as I said there isnt any test drives here - not yet at least... and over here the car is going to be over 100k - almost anyway you option it, the only way it comes less then 100k after taxes is no options lol.

So for an 100k car that I can't test drive I had to see some reviews first.

Oh no worries. Congrats man! That makes complete sense to me. I've ordered cars without test driving them first and it can be a bit more stressful, for sure. You should be good-to-go with the W205 as the praise from reviewers/early adopters seems to be ubiquitous.

As far as the color dilemma goes, you can't go wrong with either one. Black hides the car's lines a bit more and is harder to maintain but looks very menacing. On bright and sunny days, clean black cars are hard to resist (my first Benz was Obsidian Black Metallic).

White seems to really accentuate all of the W205's lines and flame surfacing (as evident from the photos in this thread). The signature AMG details pop a bit more on the white cars too. The gloss black and carbon fiber bits make for some nice contrast against the white.

Good luck with the final decision.

I just ordered a c300 w/sport amg and airmatic. Will my car sit that low? Did you have it lowered or is that standard for the C63? I want it.

Looks great with tints! Mine changed the entire look as well. What setup did you go with?

I really wish we could code out that amber light in the headlamp. Anyone? Anyone?

I would change those badges to black; sharp look!

Would anyone proficient enough in photoshop be kind enough to turn the wheels black in the most recent photos I posted of the car with tint?

Wanted them from the factory but was unavailable and am thinking about doing it..have already inquired about pricing and timing and am currently mulling it over.

Would love to get a visual idea before moving forward.

If someone does end up volunteering their time to do this, MANY thanks in advance.

That .5" drop in the New York/New Jersey area on this car maybe the death of it. I am all about low cars but to me it's perfect. Plus, I like the fact I can clean the inner wheel wells easily.

WWM, can we get a report on the CCBs? What are they like on a normal drive to work in the morning? What are they like cold or in the rain? Are they worth $5k+? Why?

They certainly look cool. And i want some.

LOL this literally made laugh...

Yes...

So, my standard response on the above is the following (since I've been asked so often

They are 100% worth the money (especially on a lease - you only pay for half)

First and foremost, forget this generic response of braking power and no fade...that's the obvious part...kind of like saying the beauty of a cigarette boat is that it can move quickly across water - that's implied.

What isn't implied however and what really has made the difference for me is the experience...I really can't articulate it but the way that you can modulate the brake pedal/pressure is just incredible. You can apply such incredibly precise amounts of pressure that it's mind blowing... There isn't any of that wiggle on the front axle EVER that you normally feel in the pedal on initial bite in normal brakes. You can feel in the pedal that these things are as smooth as glass, it's the only thing I can describe. As to drivability, had torrential downpour the other day and no issues, same thing with cold brakes. I actually think the wet rotor thing was worse on my old C63 to be honest.

In any event, seriously these things are worth every penny. It's been a paradigm shift for me because I came from a place where I swore it was stupid to get....but if you really want to get the true feel of this car, you need to have the brakes in my opinion. I can only liken this machine to a scalpel being shot out of a canon...it's so precise and the brakes solidify/bring everything full circle.

Hopefully this helps but honestly they are one of the most beautiful things that I've ever experienced...thankful for the opportunity and blessing.

Great review on the brakes. The take rate on them is very low. However, people that do love them are 100% happy with them.

Yes, thank you for the great input on CCBs. You may have just cost me a pile of money.
