Pano Roof
Hey guys, new here - looking at ordering a 16! Not 100% on the panoramic roof - anyone that has one have an opinion? Love the way it looks from the outside, but not sure how much sun it lets in when closed. Are you able to block all light or will there always be some getting in? How about heat - now that it's getting hotter do you notice the temps higher than a solid roof?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I agree to tint it as dark as possible to reduce heat.
Definitely hotter than a sunroof because there are 2 glass parts, a large one up front and a smaller one in the back. They both have the cover on the inside to help block heat.

I've ordered it but in the UK though. Not sure what this light and heat thing is your talking about. I'll be able to see the thunderstorms and clouds just great with it though
It's my first car with a sun roof of any kind. To be honest I probably wouldn't have ordered it but there's no choice as its bundled in the Premium Pack which has the Bermiester speakers and other goodies I do want. However the demo car I test drove did have it and I actually really quite liked what it did to the cabin as a whole. Plus it looks great from the exterior at least on a white car.

The pano roof "looks" good if you're into that sort of thing. I've never been a fan of sunroofs but had no choice with my Ed1. The light blocking was OK but not 100% and now its even worse since the sliding shade broke and won't close. I have to wear a hat when driving because my head burns with the damn broken shade stuck open.
I was thinking of wrapping it solid, but I think I'll just get it fixed when I have my 1800mi service.
But, to end the rant, I don't understand the need for a big glass hole in the roof? When do you look through it? I would never open it because of the noise, thats what convertibles are for.

Houston here as well. I don't have the panorama roof on my C63S, but I do have it on my X5 and have had it on several other cars as well. With the shade shut, you will have all the cover you'll need.
One thing to remember with the panorama roof vs. the standard roof is that with the panorama you can open the top to let out all the hot air. Without it, you can't vent the hot air out as easily or quickly. That's one thing I really miss now that I don't have it.

I will not get pano again if I don't get white exterior benzs
If you're getting a dark color, just get the regular sunroof and enjoy the weight savings and no future pano nightmare issues like popping etc
I never notice that I have when I'm driving ... Might be nicer for passengers however

C63 is either panorama roof or solid roof (no sunroof). There is no option for a standard sunroof.

I'm going with iridium silver so I think the roof will be a nice contrast. Glad to hear the Houston guys chiming in & enjoying it. Going to go with it. Thanks for all the replies!

They add a great deal of weight and very hot compared to a normal roof. The added weight turns me off more than anything. Its not only that heavy glass, but they have to reinforce the roof to support it and for safety reasons. I would guess another 100lbs.

I do think it makes the car look more roomy. I doubt it'll ever be an option I'd specify if I had a choice though.

The safety and weight are my primary concerns.

Not sure though why you'd go sunroof over pano? If your committed to having a glass panel above your head you might as well go the full hog. The pano looks the business, inside and outside where as I think sunroofs most certainly do not.

I have one and live in SoCal where it gets up to 100 degrees for about three or four weeks in August. Will be putting 20% tint on the Pano but will enjoy it year round here.

That's why I tinted my t-tops twice with the darkest tint. Unlike the Pano roof there was no cover for the inside and it baked my head even with the double tint in very hot days.

I live in central florida - went with "clear" uv + heat tint on windshield, 35% ceramic tint on pano, 5% ceramic on remaining windows. It still gets hot as hell if i'm sitting at a long red light. Its not unusual to have to crank the AC temp down 2 deg, and the fan speed up a notch at redlights here.
