A funny thing happened on my way to pick-up my C63 AMG E1...

I was very excited to pick-up my new C63 AMG E1 last weekend but as a previous C63 owner (2009 and 2011) and more recently piloting a 2013 RS5 I knew that the return to RWD was both an exciting and nerve wracking proposition.

The C63 E1 did not disappoint! What a rocket. Nimble handling and raw power wrapped in an eye-catching vessel. Wow.

Now - maybe I'm getting older but the Canadian winters simply cannot be relied upon for manageable roads so I paused before putting ink to paper.

Thanks to a creative AMG specialist and some budget extension we came up with a very interesting redirection that has me as the proud new owner of 2015 E63 AMG S 4matic. Good Lord! What an incredible automobile. Simply a breathtaking machine that offers everything for a Canadian car enthusiast that needs a jaw-dropping daily driver.

More pics please! I applaud your decision. I saw a black one in the showroom myself and my heart skipped several beats.

An additional observation...

Thanks guys...

It is truly a beast. I feel pretty fortunate.

After a couple days of driving the car one of my initial observations would be that in its marketing of car MB does not highlight a lot of the very unique features of the E63. For example the driver's seat is incredible. On first glance it looks fairly compliant and standard but it truly connects the driver to the car. The dynamic bolsters intuitively predict the support required depending on driving status and car position. It is a bit heady at first because it removes all seat slide in harder turns. Give the driver a much greater degree of confidence. That said, it was not something I saw a lot of chatter on when I researched the car. Surprising as it is truly a benefit that accrues to the AMG brand. Love it.

I will get a couple additional pictures posted soon.

An excellent choice for an environment that frequently requires the additional traction of all wheel drive.

Indeed. I can see me owning yet another E63 AMG. I totally get the brand now.

Passenger dynamic seating is in European model. Not in North America likely due to cost cutting.

On a $150k car maxed out with all options, probably not

Great choice and congratulations. It is funny as the exact opposite happened to me. I went into the Reno MB store to check on my E63 AMG S that I ordered back in February. It is black like yours with a Designo platinum white interior. They were literally just pulling the Edition 1 C 63 into the showroom and I was smitten. I drove it back to back with another E63 S they had as mine still was a couple of weeks out and your description is spot on; the E is a great GT while the C is more track focused. I am all about the track and regularly take my Z06 and my old C55 and am fortunate enough to have an ML for the winters here. So, for me, it came down to what would be more fun for me on a daily basis. In the end, I decided on the C. I received a call today from the MB store as "my" E arrived. I will go view it and take photos tomorrow but I am happy with my choice and glad to here that you are as well.

Enjoy it!

That is unreal! The E1 is spectacular and I totally agree with your description of the difference. Congrats and many safe miles on the track.

The tinting added the final touch!

The interior is simple but so well appointed. Love the grey/white stitching and light seat belts.

Fantastic! All my gear head buddies were simply in awe of the power band and lack of turbo lag.

The massage on the E is very inferior to the s class...

Amazing how the C, E, and S class look so similar now. Especially C and E.

Congrats! I made a very similar choice as soon as I found the new C63 would not be AWD.

Enjoy and good luck!

From the front yes I agree. But these days it's the same with BMW and Audi as well.
