A rather mysterious prototype of a Mercedes-AMG C63 Estate has been caught on camera.
Daimler's performance arm came out with the mean C63 in both sedan and wagon flavors last fall and it seems they are already planning to diversify the range with the addition of a possible Black Series version. We are not entirely sure the prototype spotted here is indeed the more hardcore variant, but it does have beefier wheel arches to host those fatter tires that are coupled to black wheels looking slightly different than the 19-inch set of the C63 S. It also seems to feature a stiffer suspension which has lowered the car even more while the camouflage indicates some other body changes are planned as well.
If this is indeed a Black Series version, expect the twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter engine to develop more than the 510 PS (375 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) offered by the C63 S Estate which runs the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 4.1 seconds, so the upgraded version will likely do it in 4 seconds or even 3.9s.
It won't be out in the near future as Mercedes-AMG is currently busy putting the finishing touches on the C63 / C63 S Coupe set to debut later this month, ahead of a proper introduction at the Frankfurt Motor Show. This possible C63 Estate Black Series will likely be launched sometime next year and should come in sedan form as well, followed possibly by the coupe body style.
