Creaking From the Dashboard?
It's not a simple vibration from rattling trim, or change in the console.... it's a loud deep creaking when I go over dipping divets on the highway.
I'll take a look under the dash, and in the engine compartment this weekend for something obvious.
I hate to go to the dealership for fear they will break things in the attempt at a fix.
I have taken into dealership a few times but they cant find the fault they are telling me its common on the c63
The Creak is soo annoying
Anybody else having this problem
- A buzzing/rattling on rough pavement that sounded like it was in the headliner but diagnoses it to a rattling from the sunglasses compartment. If I leave it open, the sound goes away. It's like it's not shutting tight and just rattles with the free play.
- A buzzing coming from somewhere around the rear AC vent that are under the front armrest. I haven't had a chance to diagnose it yet, but it's only done is a few times so no worries.
I'll look under the dash tonight and see what I can see. The trouble with diagnose such a thing.... is you have to drive on the highway to test.....after each zip tie addition

My old clk55 used to make some funny dash noises when the MM's went bad, and the back of the engine Mass Air Meter would rub on the firewall. I'll see if there are any clearance issues between firewall and engine. There is a remote thought of the fancy elec mm's doing this...... but we'll see.
it literally sounds like a stress crack in the car frame creaking over long period bumps/dips in the road......
More to follow.
Along with terrible wind noise, I'm not impressed with how this thing is screwed together!
Others chime in if you have this. You will only hear it going over rolling dips/bumps.

It seems to come from the silver dash piece that runs behind the screen to meet the instrument binnacle. Mine seems to be worse when cold. It stops when I put pressure on the edge of it but I can't seem to find a permanent solution.
I'm also getting another rattle from the centre console area. It may be the cup holder. I'll set about wedging that more firmly in place.
Finally I have a high frequency vibration when using the phone. It seems only to be an issue on certain notes when someone speaks. It's really really annoying!!!!
I haven't approached the dealership as yet because I've seen dashboards rattle even more following a visit to the dealer to fix an issue.

I'll post up results of my journey to stop my fire-wall noises.
I looked at the back of the motor/firewall after work..... and nothing obvious. Only a few items that go from the motor to the firewall... fuel lines, and some wires above the trans.
I'll check under the dash next.... but I suspect there a panels/stuff in the way stopping me from seeing up around the brake booster area......
- its most pronounced when the car encounters diagonal movement, in my case going over a speed hump straight on, it is less pronounced then if going in diagonally.
- a quiet motorway drive with some road undulations will also produce this
- it is not the NAV screen nor the brackets behind it (i had already pulled this apart and checked this)
- it appears to be somewhere where the dash meets the windscreen (so fairly deep inside)
- in my instance if i leave the car parked in the sun all day i do not get the creak once the interior is hot, it is louder early in the morning after the car cooled overnight.
I hope AMG is listening and they talk to the boys in Alabama about this build issue, so the MY 16, 17 get this sorted out.
For a "luxury" class vehicle.... this is simply not acceptable.
My old 150K mile Fox chassis mustang didn't have such noises

Towards the end of the vid I push the centre console just above the three vents. The noise stops.
I'm sending this to MBUK for comment. It's not acceptable on a car of this value. I had a loaner base spec E-class when the CEL issue was being resolved and it was silent.
So others with similar issues can compare incase it's a vehicle spec that's particularly affected;
Car was in comfort mode
I have the 19" wheels
I have black ash wood centre console.
Temp was approx. 10 degrees celcius. (That's Scotland for you folks!)
Roads weren't particularly rough and the rattle was evident for all of my 3 mile commute.

I must be going nuts.
Hopefully whatever shifted stays that way.
If the drivers window is closed all the way it creeks. If open just a touch it stops. I tried using silicone in every possible way but no solution.
I also get the odd rattle and buzz from various places when going over rougher surfaces, it is annoying as it doesn't seem very well put together - mine is definitely worse when its cold in the morning, getting better as the day warms the interior up.
