Nitpick but unhappy with the AMG Exhaust tips...

It most likely will make a difference to the sound, how much is hard to say. "tuner" shops sell tips for the very reason, when kids want that sound and look, but can't afford a full exhaust. I had a friend when we were teenagers did just that, and it made a huge difference in sound. Gun silencers works similarly. bass boxes, bazooka tubes, etc as well.

When I bought my C63 the exhaust tips had some carbon buildup on them which I was able to remove with a little chrome polish so they do direct the exhaust gasses evenly out the back of the car as all four tips had buildup on them.
This is such a non-issue for me. I find it amusing that it is such a polarizing thing.

No offense, but the M4's stock exhausts sound like garbage.
It's not called "The Lawnmower" for no reason.
If the C63S did a traditional setup, pretty sure it wouldn't sound that great either. Turbocharged cars simply don't sound that great without a team that is obsessed with making the car sound as good as a big block NA. AMG knows that part of its identity is the sound, so they had to come up with this solution.

It doesn't bother me other than they stole the idea from the famous Lexus ISF. I owned a 2010 Lexus ISF that was heavily modded and I had my tips done in Black along with a Tom's carbon fiber diffuser. It looks like the back of my AMG except the tips were oval instead of square and stacked instead of side by side.
