Thinking of getting 2016 C63S- thoughts on this car I found...

So I think I need a 4 door compact rocket and the first two cars that come to mind are the M3 and the C63S. I love my M178 engine in the GTS so I have to assume the M177 will deliver in regards to power and sound. But will the transmission be a deal breaker? I really didn't like the MCT's in my E63, CLS63, SL63, and E63 wagon all too much but it served its purpose once I modded the cars and bumped the tq way up.

I have easy access to tuning the C63S and downpipes in my local area along with a drop so it would be a plug and play scenario (the M3 too for that case). What do you think of this build I found locally?:

Hello Vic,
Thats a serious garage you have. wow!!. I cant comment on the first bit but the build is great. that color with the white and black performance seats its going to look great. the night styling and the black wheels are the two things that i missed out on but will really make this white look great. I fixed the wheel issue already but still working on the chrome trim. I think this car has about every option besides the trim and the wheel locks!! the only thing that would bother me is the gloss black trim around the controls, fingerprint central. as it is now i keep a rag for when i hit the gloss black buttons!

the air balance package is a glorified air freshener that sits in the glove box and apparently takes up about 1/2 of it.

Thank you for the info--- wow an air freshener for 350 dollars LOL. I have the black gloss inside trim on my Edition 1 GTS and yes it a bit of dust grabber but I don't really touch it all too much so ill be able to live with it. I did realize this car does not have the carbon fiber package though and I liked that on the car I actually saw in person (it was missing other stuff though).

The MCT mapping has seriously improved since the older generations....

This is what sold me...mine comes at the end of the month

I had the same dilemma of M3 vs C63S, and also considered the M5 and E63S. I'm sure you have driven the M3/M4, but I find the sound of the I6TT to be rather unpleasant and also do not like the fake engine sounds pumped in on the speakers. The sound of the 4.0L biturbo on the C63S is vastly superior, and I also think the interior of the M3 is not as nice as the MB. This is coming from someone that has owned 4 previous M cars and not a single MB to date. Mine is scheduled to be built on April 7! Keep us posted on what you end up getting. Hope you're doing well!

Holy moly - you have my dream garage!!!! Two things that I love that you are missing are the 360 surround view camera option and that sweet IWC clock - don't get it with the piano black interior. Otherwise, awesome build!

The M3 looks a lot better, opinion of course, and has a better transmission but if you want a more luxury feel the C63 wins, again opinion of course.

Thanks for this... I didn't even realize there was this option. I guess I should go do a build at the MBUSA site.

Yes the M3 looks better overall in exterior styling. Actually I think the C63 looks just as good up until you get to the C pillar on back. The rear of the C63 I'm still not a big fan of. Yes MDCT is superior to the MB MCT, no doubt. But the rest the C63 is better, opinion of course. Better interior with better quality materials, better motor, superior sounding, and more features. No doubt both are great, and obviously everyone will have their personal favorite between the two. Great first world problems to have!

Hi Vic. Bout time you add one of these to your resume.
People who have the air freshener like it but it takes up most of your glove box's space.
Another 600 gets you the parking package that includes 360 camera
Why don't I see multimedia package listed? Double check this because with this build I think you have the multimedia.
There's not much more you can add. Unless you love the GTs's seats , compare the standard seats in terms of comfort.
Don't complain about the air balance price :p
Keep in mind that the carbon interior trim gets aluminum door trim but the wood trim extends to the doors as well.
The clock should be standard.

Thanks for the details. I don't think this car actually has the multimedia.. do I need it as I don't use the hard drive ever. This car doesn't have the parking package I confirmed.. it does have the rear camera and the sensors. Hummmm how bad do I need that?

how about this car? It appears to be similar to the one above but no black wheels, no 360, no multi

Vic55,

Congrats on the decision. The setup of that car looks perfect. If it were me i'd get the CCB, only because i've never had CCB on a benz before so I'm curious what its like-- performance wise I'm sure its basically the same so not a deal breaker. I'm also an avid BMW fan/owner and the F80 just doesnt cut it compared to the C63S IMO, mainly because after you get used to the immense power of the F80 (a few weeks), then the car actually is a bit boring. This is because of the terrible steering rack IMO. Terrible in the sense that its pin tack accurate, but kind of boring.

I've been thinking of trading in my C63 BS for the new C63S, but haven't pulled the trigger because I can't get enough seat time in with the W205.

As a fellow C63 BS owner I'd be really appreciative if you could give your feedback on how the new car compares to the BS? Im scared to sell the BS since I love it too damn much, so your comments after you've had the car for a little bit would be very very very very very very very very very helpful.

Hey brother, if I get it I will give a comparo post vs the BS for sure. I too would like CCB's but there is only one car in 200 miles that has them and its silver (no offense just don't want silver). I'm scared to sell mine too since its just so unique. This will not be a replacement so life will go on

I will say this, the GTS is a better car than the BS in almost every single way. I wont compare cabin technology since they are 4 years apart but, chassis, steering, engine (yeah I like the 4.0 Hot V with a dry sump), handling, and overall power delivery are better. So that's why the C63S has intrigued me since I get a very similar engine (wet sump) but do have to endure the MCT a slight bit. A simple tune will put this C63S on the map no doubt and the sound is rather incredible.

Thanks! Very much looking forward to your review.

Agreed, I love the power, responsiveness and sound of the new hot-V8 engine. To me the C63S was just as loud or possibly louder then the C63BS and even more fun (due to more pops and burbles). I'm one of the few that thinks the new engine is superior to the 6.2 in every way and theres no reason to look back to the old engine. But in case we're wrong, you are one lucky dog to be able to keep both

As for CCB, not a big deal, I believe its only on the fronts anyways, so that takes alot away from it as well. The designo white will be perfect, love that color.

I have to concur--- my RS7 gave me the same type of pause but a nice trunk lid spoiler broke (kind of) up the "weird" view IMHO.

I see what you're doing with all your open tabs in the background!

The first build has all the items that are part of multimedia just not the actual words: multimedia. If you can check the window sticker that's a more customer end info you might see mm package.
We think mm is the prerequisite for features that improve navi like speed limit, engine performance page on comand, and some brace stuff. How is it on your GTs's?
Also remember skinny tires on this car and if you want fatter ones you may opt to upgrade to aftermarket rims anyway.

A lot of people mistaken the Air Balance Package as just an air freshener. I have it in my S550 and its pretty great - it ionizes the air, so you don't smell any of the crap that comes in from the outside or have to leap to the circulation tab just to stop things from smelling. Happens a lot in LA.

Vic, congrats on the new car choice. I'm excited for you - just got my C63 AMG S on order today.

As I mentioned I haven't come across an owner who has this and doesn't like it.
