Common problems with the W205 AMG C63

I just picked up the car today for the first time from Sindelfingen. I thought I did a pretty thorough function check at the Kundencenter before taking it home. Once I got home, I started messing around with all the buttons, and my Manual Shift button on the center console broke and now remains in the down position. At first I thought it was working as intended and thought the only way out of manual shift is to go back into drive. But after reading the manual, it states the button is supposed to allow me to go back into auto.

And in any other mode, which for me really means S+ cause that's what I drive in until warmed up, I don't notice any jerky downshifts.
But man... Love that race mode.

I hear the same mid-high pitch humming noise. It's not stopped for a while even after turned off. Seems not related to any function. And sometimes it's not started immediately after ignition. If opening the hood, I can hear a bigger sound close to passenger headlight. Any thoughts? Thx.
There seems to be a coolant smell all the time and I have a faint humming noise coming from underneath the hood. It does not increase with speed. Have had it at two dealers multiple times but they cannot find either one.?? Cold weather the front end either brakes or suspension parts make a cracking sound but goes away after a few times. Some interior rattles.

Same here... But only in race mode and only from second to first gear when I'm on the brakes. If I manually down shift, with the paddle in auto mode, it's much smoother I've noticed.

Was it jerky when you downshifting yourself? During my test drive, I noticed that in Sport+ it was jerky when manually downshifting but was smooth when the car controlled the downshifting around town. I had no issues in comfort mode.

Just kidding but you get use to how to drive it and you will be mostly smooth after a while.
Coming up to a stop and in 1st and the clutch opens and the light changes before you stop and you get back on it and the clutch closes again and you can get some jerkiness if you are not careful. but you learn.

It was in manual 2d gear after I hit the left paddle. A bit hard to describe, but running slow in 2nd, because the sloshiness when applying the gas, it almost felt like the gears just kicked in and knocked me forward. I think the car will hesitate and try to go into automatic drive "D" mode when the gear coasts, and when I push hard on the gas, it'll knock me forward. My wife yelled me at saying I should've been more gentle on a brand new car. I told her it wasn't my fault. It just did it by itself.

Use second and go easy. Clutch takes a few hundred miles to bed some and smoothen up a lot. If you still have this behavior check if you hsve the latest transmission software update. I suspect you do, and you just need patience to break it in. My friend got a coupe right after my sedan. Both of us had similar expiriences

Other update my low oil add a quart message persists. Last 3 times oil was low. Today at 4500 miles my forth trip back to dealer oil was fine but my message popped up at around same 1000 miles give or take 300 miles. Another problem premature wear on my front left tire outside. Can't have car eat tires. Going back tomorrow morning. Lovely car annoying issues. This recurring oil issue got me a little worried. I'll remember to ask them to check my wheel alignment too while at it. Uneven tire wear is not cool. I'll ditch the crappy Dunlop Maxx summer for all seasons soon. But first fix the problems.

A full Liter ?
You should start checking it each morning cold so you get a idea on use if any.
I got the low warning twice long ago and neither time was it low.

FIXED! Rear Axel diff lock error c63s
A bit of a story, but FIXED! - It turned out to be a software update.
1st visit - car in to MB dealer - They were told to update software by AMG. The car apparently kept rejecting the software. Turned out their "Star" software needed updating (I assume their system for loading software to cars). So they updated. I got the car back - but not fixed.
2nd visit - had a strop and told them as this is the third visit - by law in UK they have to replace car.
They sent diagnostics to AMG who told them the new software was still not loaded and is corrupt. Suspect the new Star system does not report failed update. Software reloaded - diags sent to AMG and AMG confirmed update.
Now driven for 5 days with no error.
Hope this helps.....

Glad to hear I'm not the only one. A few years back I had a BMW 535 and the battery on that kept going flat. The dealer basically said it was my fault for nor doing enough miles and whilst I could understand his point, the bottom line was a faulty starter motor. BMW refused to acknowledge there was a problem until I trawled through the net and found others had similar issues. A new motor was eventually fitted under warranty and problem solved.
That's what made me a little wary of my C63. Right now I think it is a low usage issue, but I will watch it carefully. I hooked up a battery charger on Friday and gave it a good top up, so it will be interesting to see how long it will be until the message reappears. Strange that you are having similar issues with daily usage.
I'm guessing heated seats and heated rear window can't help, but hey, it's been cold outside, so these things happen. I have always turned off Eco mode, because continual start/stop of the engine can't help the battery, unless of course, they have a low current option in Eco mode to stop that happening.
Keep in touch....

curious cause I had to put my car back on the battery tender after a month .
I've been doing short drives with the heated seats on and rear defroster on.
also running the stereo while vehicle is off for short periods doesn't help ether.

Transmission problem
After doing a few highway pulls from 2nd gear at 45mph and exelerate to about 120 in 4th gear in S+ or Race mode a few times. If I do that about 3-4 times I noticed that when the car is switched from 3rd - 4th gear the power cuts off for about 2seconds and the nose dives down almost as if it's choking out. If I stay on the throttle it Dives down then picks up again. But it's like I pressed the break for a second. Iv brought it to the dealer and they say nothing is wrong but it doesn't feel normal. I even took the "AMG Specialist" for a ride. He felt what it was doing then plugged it in to the computer and still said there was nothing wrong....This was down in cold weather as well. After 3-4 pulls the temperatures were still normal so I don't understand what it could be. Anyone have this problem ?

I think theirs a tsb about this
this will definitely choke the engine like you been experiencing.
also make sure your running top quality fuel 93 octane.

I do run 93 octan. Supposedly they did check some hoses when I brought it in. But found nothing. I went to 2 dealers

or if your diy guy look at it your self.
also the ecu mapping might be corrupt might need to be reflashed by Mercedes.

You will also see the boost screen in front of wheel not going up all the way.

There is TSB on this and I had one replaced. I had the central HP/TQ screens show under 300 on acceleration some of the time early on in ownership. Since hose replacement I have had no more incidents.

No problems, just nit picks:
- No gearstick. 18 months now and I still hate using the steering column stalk
- no stereo volume indicator;
- Noisy climate control
- In Comfort mode the car lugs off in second gear
- In other auto modes the car starts in first but holds gears too long for regular driving;
- In manual mode there’s no stop/start function;
- Clutch slip when driving off after using stop/start.
- Handbrake seizing every time when the car is parked overnight after wash
- hubcaps on 5 spoke star alloys falling off or being stolen because they are easily removed
- heavy steering
- Alcantara steering wheel
- Suspension’s comfort mode is not comfortable
- Can’t program race mode exhaust with everything else in comfort mode.
