Refurb on C63s Edition 1 Wheels

Guys

Some advice and guidance needed.

Has one has success in refurbishing edition 1 alloy wheels? If so which company (in the UK) have you used?

I took out Alloy Insurance (not with Mercedes) and after curbing my wheels last week, they have advised me that their authorized repair representative cannot refurbish the wheel due the red lining on the rim. Does anyone have a recommendation of company that could do this OR would I need to goto Mercedes.

Thanks

Silly question on my part but wouldn't your insurance therefore cover the replacement of the wheel?

No they only cover a part of the cost for a replacement. The alloy isn't completely destroyed just scuffed.

There is a great place in Canada called Green's wheel repair, they will fix anything.

The Edition 1 wheel is worth $2200 Canadian and it I tried to get one from Mercedes for 3 months until I told them to pound sand. Ended up using green's wheel repair and the wheel is perfect.

If you can't find a place in the UK, you have two options... send it to Green's, the shipping and I bet you're into if for $500 CAD, or carefully smash your rim a little more and then... I won't say the rest.

Where are you in the UK? I usually use a franchise called Revive but mainly because the guy for my area is really good and does a great job with wheels.

Try Lepsons based in Gillingham, Kent. They do a good job and your can send your wheel to them.

Hi,

I am in the same situation. Have you been able to refurbish the wheels? All the shops that I asked for the refurbish doesn’t guaranty a finish like the OEM.

Subscribed to this. You cannot truly repair "Forged" wheels. They will put them on the lathe and grind off the scuffs but the AMG logo will get ground down with it. I hope I'm wrong but after attempts on my W204 507 wheel I think not. Don't get me wrong, they will look better without the scuff, but they will not look like the wheel on the other side of your car anymore. This is all separate from the color and the striping. I'm solely talking about the shape of the wheel. Hope others have some input

I bought Mercedes tire and wheel insurance. But after reading the fine print, it said something to the effect of "we will repair/refinish the wheel based on our criteria". Good thing there was an "escape clause" in the contract that allowed me to get 100% of my money back. So I did. Salesman said "Mercedes will just replace the wheel". I said, "That's not what the contract says..."

I’m looking for wheel insurance. Who’s yours with. I know a firm who looked at my wheels (same wheel just not red but silver) and said “you cant cut that as it doesn’t sit proud of the Matt paint - you will end up with a negative cut” i.e. below the Matt paint

My MB dealer did mine and the finish is no longer the same. It’s less glossy, more matte. The color matches still but the texture of the finish isn’t OEM. I always notice it when I go to wash my car but visually from a few feet away you can’t tell. Definitely prefer the OEM glossier finish though!
