Anyone put the w205 c63s on a scale?

Just wondering how much the car actually weighs. Sometimes they weigh alot more than advertised. I've got a 05 cts-v that i've done alot of mods to. I've dropped at least 80lbs off the original weight of the car and when i put it on the scale it was at 3905lbs with a full tank. Its curb weight is supposed to only be 3850lbs.

Curious to hear everyone's thoughts

I've got the pano roof as well. I guess i'm around the same weight also. Its crazy how heavy cars have gotten. Was this with a full tank and nothing else in the car? What ET and mph did you manage?

Coupe is even heavier (about 70kg).

I was puzzled myself (the saloon isn't exactly a lightweight as it is!) and spent a little time looking for information. I think some reviewer commented on it and said that it was deliberate, to provide better traction at the rear. However I understand that the rear end mechanics are significantly different on the coupe, perhaps the added weight is a by product of that.

There are a lot of changes to the Coupe compared to the Sedan. The Coupe has an entirely unique rear suspension that isn't shared with either the C63 sedan or the standard C-class coupes. It's significantly wider, with flared front and rear arches (widened the rear track by 1.7 inches compared with the C63 sedan). The front track is also wider than the C63 Sedan. This means wider rubber in the front and rear (including larger 20'' wheels in the back), various bracing, longer axles, etc. makes it heavier than the sedan... but it still accelerates faster with the wider rubber and shorter gearing that comes with the Coupe.

The Coupe has the same rear suspension setup that will be used in the upcoming E63 AMG as well.

Very informative. It is interesting that Mercedes decided to go down this route with the coupe. The M4 is about 23kg lighter than the M3 (I think most manufacturers' coupe variants are slightly lighter than their saloon counterparts) and both cars are a great deal lighter than the Mercedes. It will be interesting to see how the C63S coupe performs on a track vs an M4.

I wouldn't be surprised if the C63S coupe outperforms the M4 on the track because of the substantial changes over the sedan.

70kg sounds like a significant weight penalty over the sedan, but I bet the coupe will still be much faster on track and in acceleration. The weight is there for a reason (structural rigidity, larger wheels/tires, different rear suspension).

It has more rubber in the rear than the M3/M4 for the first time (285's vs 275's), and the C63 sedan was never far off pace to start.

I think it's going to take an M4 with the new competition package to be competitive with the Coupe. It wouldn't surprise me if the reason BMW came out with the CP is because of the Coupe...
