Pre Paid Maintenance and tire insurance
Hello All,
I am excited to share I will be taking delivery of My OB Black C63s on Wednesday!
I am happy to join the family here!
I know the dealership will hit me with a whole bunch of add ons when I sign the lease. I will be probably wanting to sign anything they put in front of me that day, as I will be so excited to hear that exhaust sound.
I am interested in Pre-paid maintenance and tire insurance.
They have quoted me $1400 for 2 year PP Maintenance and 3 year at 1900. I can see they are overcharging me , as the MBUSA site quotes 1300 and 1800.
Whats the least amount I can expect to pay? Can I buy PP Maintenance from another dealer? Can this be residualized in the lease? (if so I must buy from my dealer)
Lastly they quoted me 1695.00 for 3 year tire insurance. Is that a good price? Again can I purchase elsewhere at a cheaper price?
The car is a on a 3 year lease 10k per year.
Thanks for your advice!

2 years PP maintenance will not cost you 1400. You will hit one Service A, and one Service B. Out of pocket, it's about $1200 here in the SF Bay area. You won't care about 3rd year PP, since you'll be turning it in on the third year anniversary anyways. The only incentive here is that it's financed. But you're giving them a lot of extra cash just to finance maintenance.
Tire insurance is crap too. Assuming you go through one additional set of tires in the 30k miles that you'll be leasing this vehicle; you're looking at spending, at most, around $1200 for a new set of tires at around 15k miles. By the time you turn in the vehicle, you're not paying for new tires, so who cares?
All those add-ons might make remote sense to a purchase, but a lease.. no way.

This is what they quoted me for service prices:
2k rear axle oil change $300
10k service $360
20k service $800
Which comes out to 1460 so im saving 60 bucks plus tax. Not a big savings at their current price, but can I get it cheaper at another dealership?
I did not write down the 30k service, but I was told I need to turn in the car at 29,999 miles any more and I will be charged for the service.
As far as the tire insurance, I am considering it. Here in New York, every road has pot holes in the spring. I have been through 6 tires and 2 rims with the low profile tires on my MINI Countryman.
I am just wondering if the dealer is over charging me.
Thanks,

getting pp maintenance is stupid. You pay more than what the actual cost is and if you include it in your lease, you are paying a finance cost.

Look for the 15% deal for services and you can search for a local dealer that works for Costco by zip.
They send you a cert. with code to get discount.

I am not a Costco member, one will be opening in my town soon. I will be joining once it is opened. Have you ever used the coupon RDOCA?

Thanks for the info! I went to the Costco website and was able to get the coupon. Turns out the dealer I ordered and purchased my C63S from is the local dealer affiliated with the Costco program! I'm not sold yet on the pre-paid maintenance, mostly because I'm not sure if I will keep the car longer than 3 years. I assume it will be better just to pay for maintenance as needed versus getting the pre-paid, especially if I have the 15% off discount I can get from Costco?
