Why are no OBD tunes available for w205 c63s?

The amount of can-bus communications and things that go on, the inbuilt security, etc. You need direct EEPROM access which you don't have via the diagnostic port. Or a piggyback which lies to the ME and makes it do what you want by feeding it false sensor readings.

I agree with you that having to ship ecu's to an out of state tuner, especially if there are any issues, is far from ideal. As for the piggybacks, like Italian Joe said, that is just feeding the ecu wrong information to force the ecu to compensate certain engine components to some desired effect.

Well one of the tuner companies would have to be willing to pay one or more very good hackers to do the work. Also once MB finds out one of these tuner companies have cracked their security encryption keys, MB would simply create a new security algorithm for new cars coming off the assembly line. So again, the tuner companies would have to outlay a substantial amount of money to hack the new security encryption keys. It would be an ongoing effort and expense on the part of the tuner companies and as long as people are willing to tolerate the shipping their ecu's via Fed Ex back and forth, it is unlikely any of the major tuner companies will sign-up for that kind of expense. Of course the expense of this hacking work would have to be built into the price of the tunes sold, so then you are also looking at how much people are willing to pay to tune their vehicles. Like everything else, it's just a function of how much money one is willing to spend to get something done.
