I have some information here for you but we're limited on video clips. The video you see at the bottom is from Akrapovic if you haven't seen it already. More videos will be posted when we have our dealers video tape more for us

How does this compare to the optional AMG Performance Exhaust? I'm assuming its better, but wonder how much of a difference it makes in sound.

I find it concerning that a company makes an exhaust for a car and doesn't have real world examples of it plastered everywhere they can. It probably sounds great, but I wouldn't consider it until I've heard several real world installs and while that commercial is cool, it's not informative about what you get.

It's overpriced and I don't really see the points of having one... I'd rather have downpipes for the 3rd of the price and much better gains.

Do yourself a favor, use your money for something else.

+1

From personal experience I'd so go down pipes. Much better option. Akra is overpriced. It's probably 5-6 grand. If you're set on sticking to stock DP get a AWE. It's like 1/3 the price lol and it sounds good

I did the same as you... the Akra on the e92 M3 was just magical. It made an okay sound into one of the best V8 melodies on the planet (my opinion). Now after saying that, I have the performance exhaust on my 63 coupe and frankly don't see me changing it.

Over here an Akra for this car will set me back about 8k, and I just don't see the value this time around. I think AMG have done a fantastic job. Now a tune and DP's... that's a different story

If you do get it fitted, please let us know your thoughts.

Cheers,
Scar

I got the baby tuned... but someone also keyed. I don't want to pain the car so I'm thinking about wrapping it tomorrow. It's gonna cost me 3k that I could've used for the downpipes. Oh well.... need to make more money.

Anybody who hasn't read the brief history of Akrapovic - http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/9...ufacturer.html - might have some opinions changed after doing so.

And we'll have more videos to post once they're created but there are circumstances that we cannot predict which may slow down the process of getting a video up and running. Though we encourage every dealer to make videos of their installations and before and after sound clips, it doesn't always happen.

Rest assured once we have more videos sent in from our dealers we'll be happy to post them up for you

Gotta say those two clips make it sound pretty awesome, BUT not sure about $5-6K awesome. Would love to hear it side by side a 63 with AWE exhaust and a stock 63 with performance exhaust - hear how big of a difference there truly is.

that sounds awesome, with my m3 i modified it too much and lost on it heaps so i didn't want to remove transmission and install downpipes and tune etc so i thought ill just install a exhaust and leave it at that. funny thing is i own a workshop so labour would be free

$8k for for bent pipe and mufflers is stupid.....and shame on us for entertaining it

A brand new full warranty 525HP LS crate motor is $8k

It's impossible to justify.

Or a sound by sound of downpipes vs Akrapovic. Couldn't care less about the history of the company. My ***** aren't made of gold.

I find it very strange that while there are videos of the exhaust on, none of them had the foresight to also record a comparison video. It's incredibly difficult to judge an accurate sound from the video, but having the same video recorder record the two sounds will give a way more accurate understanding.

Everyone here knows what the stock exhaust really sounds like, so we would be able to compare the video sound to our real life sound, and then make a similar assumption on how the Akrapovic exhaust would sound in real life compared to the video.

IPe did that with the very first video they released. A simple comparison video. Not a music video photoshoot.

Sorry to say I'm of the opposite opinion ^^^^^ the worst part about that exhaust system (besides the already mentioned ridiculous price tag) are those awful looking tips

IMHO there are plenty of car types to justify spending money to better its exhaust, but up to nearly 10k in some Countries for what you get above compared to the brilliant OEM set up on the 205 series C63's seriously spend that on something else

I too purchased the Akra for the E92 M3 and it still ranks as one of the best sounds on a vehicle I've ever had.

But I have to say, just not worth the expense on the C63s. I have the performance exhaust, and it more than meets my expectations.

I'll save my cash this time round for wheels and a tune ( when they can do OBDII )

Regards,
Scar

gorgeous....but waste of money. if it was an S63...then I could see it since the cost of the car balances the cost of the mod.
