Heads Up: CPO C63 S for Sale w/Replaced Motor

Hi all,

I just wanted to share this info with anyone out there looking at what would potentially be a pretty decently priced car.

http://www.mercedesoffortmyers.com/u...9b3becec48.htm

They do not state in the listing or the Carfax that this car had a blown motor due to oil starvation and it is in the process of being replaced. Also, that's why there's only the 3 photos up. They will state the motor replacement in the service history but that's it. The car is a CPO car, so I'm sure it'll be fine to own but just be prepared to get destroyed if you ever resell or trade in the car. The dealer or buyer will devalue the car much less than they are discounting it now when compared to market value. They claim they are 100% firm on their asking price. Hopefully they don't sucker someone ignorant to the history of the car into thinking they got a good deal.

Hope this helps!

Cars.
The fact that the pictures for that car have been taken in a parking lot with other cars right next to it is a cause for concern, and raises red flags for me. That's one dealership I would not do business with.

For a little bit more you can get a brand new lightly optioned c63S

I think they could be a bit more aggressive in price or it'll just go to auction

Of course, most used C63's are high because people don't know about the discounts on left-over stock still sitting on lots.

My point of the post was to alert potential buyers to the issue with the car so they know what they are buying. Regardless of the pricing, I'm not entirely certain they'd go out of their way to alert a potential buyer especially since they have a vested interest in the car being sold since they spent the money replacing the motor and CPO'ing it.

Yea, this is not a deal. Maybe in the low 60's if you can live with the fact that the engine was/is replaced -- who knows what else was done under the ownership of the owner if he managed to blow it with less than 5k miles. I'd stay away and pickup a left over '16 on the lot with deep discounts.

Engines fail all the time and are replaced frequently. Just because an engine failed doesn't mean it was driven hard. Could have been a manufacturing defect, especially if its oil starvation.

If it's CPO, then it has a service history and full warranty and actually gives you an additional 2 years up to 120,000 miles.

Agreed. I will have my 2016 C63s bought back and I ordered a 2017. Blown motor. 5,800 miles. They said hydrolock. Car never went over any water and it wasn't even raining when it happened. They also asked me how fast I was going. I was doing 30-40 mph. I guess they just told me whatever they could come up with. I'm leaning more towards a manufacturing defect. I took care of my car but things happen. I had a coolant hose blow out and the car was about a month old. I had just parked it and when I got out of the car, the hose blew and spilled coolant everywhere...Not even a year old and was on a flatbed twice. My good ol' 2006 Civic has never been towed (and hopefully I didn't just jinx myself).

Maybe you're missing my point. While it has a service history and I'm sure the blown motor is listed in there, my point is it's not disclosed in the listing. I simply wanted to make people aware that the motor was blown. Who knows if it was a manufacturing defect or due to mods, it doesn't really matter. My point was just to let a potential buyer know and make the decision for themselves.
