They are convinced it's software and not mechanical. FML.
sorry to hear that buddy, I hope this gets solved very soon

Sometimes I feel it shift down to 1st right after the car is completely stopped, but often it shifts down and kicks hard right before coming to a complete stop, jolting the car forward. It's pretty startling. Anyone else experiencing this on their new coupes? Any ideas why this is happening? (Note doesn't happen in Comfort since it stays in 2nd gear at a stop.) Thanks.
Did you ever get to the bottom of this, as my 2016 coupe is doing exactly the same thing and Mercedes seem clueless?

Yes, it was resolved with a software update the dealer applied shortly after the issue surfaced.

Yes MB did a gear box software up date and was ok after this take in mind that the gear box is a wet clutch and when the oil is cold until it gets to normal operating temp the dear box is a bit jumpy. Ie takes a longer time to gey in to gear and jumps into gear from neutral to first. This goes away when temp up this normal. Hope you get it shorted.

that's a tad bit too clunky IMO. my car does it sometimes but not close to a stop like that. only when driving in sport plus and usually if I'm driving a bit more aggressively and that's at higher speeds. I'm on 13k miles on my 2018. now from memory I do recall being bothered by the transmission just after running the car through its 1k miles and I thought maybe I had pushed the car too hard during the run in and had done something to the transmission which was jolting a bit when coming to a stop. this problem did go away though after a while and I cant remember if that was after I had the rear diff axle oil change or not but I did that at just under 2k miles. maybe the dealer put a software update through or the transmission settled down itself. cant be sure as this was a year ago but I clearly recall clunking issues after the run in period

Apologies for chiming in VERY late - my 2016 is in the shop for the same issue as we speak. I know it's a long while since you first posted about your trans but are you satisfied that it was indeed a software update/upgrade that fixed it? I'm about to exit warranty and I'd like to ensure a transmission replacement happens while I'm covered.

I'm in the same boat, my warranty is expiring in 6 months and in S or S+ my 17 63S downshifts after coming to a complete stop sometimes. I brought the service manager along for a ride to show him what I was talking about and he said that yes it is downshifting late but it will not damage the transmission. I have brought it in twice in order to get the documentation in case it causes issues in the future.
