Radar Detector Mirror Mounts?

Is anyone using a rearview mirror mount for their radar detector? I'm currently using an Escort 9500iX, and I'm fed up with all of the crap-*** suction cup solutions I've tried.

The space between my mirror and the windshield is only about 0.25 inches (6.35mm), and I'm wondering if there's a mount out there that can clamp to the mirror's post with that limited amount of real estate.

Thanks!

I might have found one, but can't be certain until my car gets here in three weeks.... Will post when I know more.

The C Class's rear view mirror has almost no real estate due to the electronic cameras housed up there for the safety monitoring systems.

It really is tight; I could barely even fit my garage parking permit there, and that's just a basic plastic card with a cutout hole!

I know you said you don't like the suction cups, but for me they wound up being the best solution once I got it set up right - maybe try aftermarket cups? . I had a sun strip across the top of my windshield, and stuck the suction cups to that. This put the detector directly in front of the mirror so it was completely out of sight, out of mind, and almost invisible when driving by from the outside. I had it hard wired, and had the concealed display installed under the flip up ash tray cover. I used a custom panel in there with a kill switch, and on/off for my Laser Interceptor system too. I'd highly recommend the V1/LI combo.
Not familiar with the inside of a W205, I had a W204 C63, but hopefully it has the same compartment. I'll try and track down pics.

I'm using "Adams Manufacturing 7500-77-3040 1 1/8" Suction Cups" with my window mount, and they lose suction on days where we see large temperature swings. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I reached out to a few vendors and manufacturers of radar detector mirror mounts, and none of them have a product that will clamp onto the mirror post of the new C63s.

Here's an example item: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0063N7OZ2...et_detail_page

Couldn't find any pics of the C63 interior, but found some of the S4... in the bottom right you can see the concealed display in the first pic, in the second pic you can barely see the radar detector because of how it sits in front of the mirror, no tint strip on that car.

I'll post a pic of my interior and mirror, when I get a chance. I may try to model and 3D print a custom mount.

I'm going to use this mount, stuck to the mirror using adhesive....

https://www.ebay.com/itm/181653733307

What I've done is just reverse the adhesive... As soon as the car is available, I'll confirm it works, but I'm confident it will....

Great eBay description "it will not hurt the precious machine"...

Let us know how that works. I have no problems with the V1 cups, same set lasted 5 years.

The ones that are integrated in the rear view mirror are pretty sick. A friend of mine has one in his DB9S and I always wanted that setup but couldn't justify the cost.

i'm using the Escort Max. I use the suction cup mount that came with it. Works fine.
They actually have the mirror mount available in their website. It's a little pricy though.

In my Porsche I put rare earth magnets on the detector and it sticks to the head liner. Dont know if the benz has any real metal up by the window sill tho.

I'm sure there are aftermarket cups that work fine, not elegant, but simple and you can put them out of sight.

Is anyone here really getting a real benefit from a radar detector anymore?!

Depends where you live and how you drive. If you drive like an *******, and weave in and out of traffic, probably not... but if you do a decent amount of long trips and cruise overnight it's useful in conjunction with Waze and an LI system...

Can you post a picture and maybe a quick tutorial of what you did, exactly? I would like to give this a try!!!! Maybe a pic of the magnets and the size?
