C63S Coupe or Shelby GT350R or E63S Coupe

Hi everyone,

new to this forum coming from Europe, Czech.

I need your opinion.Sorry for long post....hope you will read it

I owned M4 for almost 2 years and sold it in September this year, because i was lucky to find Shelby GT350R in America for reasonable price. If you know these cars, you know how difficult is to get R model and especially for me as european guy, it was very hard.

The reason i sold my M4 was that i just did not feel such passion for the car from day 1 till the end. I mean its great car, but i never really loved it. Also i am 41 years old and i just felt i am too old for such car, more feeling for M6 or 911 as it fits my age better imo. But maybe its just my wrong feeling.

Anyway M4 has gone and Shelby R just arrived today from USA to Prague. It will be only 1 car in Czech and maybe 1 from 5 in all Europe. I don't know about any other R model in Europe so pretty unique. Its brand new car builded for my specs.

And now my problem. I am not sure if its good idea to use the R for daily driving. Carbon Ceramic wheels, not enough comfort, etc.. and such unique car in Europe. I am thinking to sell it to some collector.

I made good deal with local MB dealer for C63S Coupe Edition 1 fully loaded with delivery in March 2017 and basically he is waiting for me to sign order and pay deposit. Should i do it? I fell C63 will give me what i missed with M4. Should i sell the R and replace it for C63? The prices are same. I paid for the R 100K USD (incl. import taxes, etc.) and fully loaded C63 will cost me 105K USD. I might sell the R to some collector min for 110K USD. The R will not depreciate at all, i can keep it for year or more and sell it later for same price. The R is amazing car...But i just feel C63 will give me my daily luxury and comfort i want + more prestige... No one know GT350R here, they just think its another Mustang.

And what is your age guys? I just think C63 is for guys around 25-35 max and i am just too old. I am seriously thinking about new E63S Coupe. Maybe this would be the best choice. Sedan is introduced and Coupe should be soon. It should be good balance between C63 and S63 Coupe and maybe it fits more to my age over 40.

So what would you do? 41 year old guy, money are not the main reason and 3 cars. Shelby GT350R, C63S Coupe ED1 or coming E63S Coupe (just hope they do it so nice and aggressive looking like C63).

And i have another car for family which is Ford Raptor, will be replaced now by new 2017 Raptor (already produced and waiting for shipment from plant to dealer and than to Europe). Raptor is also used in winter, and in rest of the year lets say 1/3 of the month for daily driving.

Thanks for opinions....

The GT350R is certainly the more special car, but it is a track weapon not really meant for daily driving. You could daily drive it, but let's be honest it would be rather inconvenient from all the attention, noise, and spartan interior.

If it were me no way I would daily the GT350R. Been there done that with daily driving sports cars, never again simply too inconvenient for me.

Maybe keep it as a weekend car and daily drive it here and there..

I'm a fair bit older than you, C63s Ed 1 is my daily driver. 911 is for weekends. I don't feel at all uncomfortable in the C63 even with the stripe but I suspect I wouldn't feel uncomfortable in an M4 either. However, for some reason, I tend to agree that the M4 may be for a slightly younger driver really.

If it was my money - I'd opt for the new E63S Sedan. I'm a coupe guy, but that is one mighty fine looking sedan.

I drove the M4 and never really fell in love with it. Agree with everyone else that the R is not a daily driver. I'm 35 so I guess I fall into your 25-35 max age group for C63. Don't know anyone who's 25 and driving around one of these cars. If your looking for a little more room I'd go with the E63 Sedan when it comes. Otherwise go with the coupe and keep the R for the weekend.

I'm sorry but age is just a number... if you're looking at upgrading your car for the sole purpose of 'looking' the right age for your car.

In saying that, I fall in that age category of 25-35. I have the C63s... However planning to consider the E63s coupe if it comes out in a few years. Its a beast of a car and that interior is to die for.

I use my car as a daily...

Depends on your roads, really. If roads are decent get the 350R. Just drive it and you may want it no matter what! C63 is nice, but not comparable to the Shelby. You have a manual transmission and it makes the Shelby quite the involved driving experience. The fact that the 350R is unique is reason alone to get it.

The age thing doesn't make sense to me because the cost of these cars, typically someone who is 25-35 driving the cars you mention is doing very, very well. I think you are fine with any of these cars at any age.

IMHO opinion on this topic irrespective of age select the one you most prefer and/or can afford to buy.

Although I do agree that speaking of age "generally" M drivers are younger than AMG drivers and E Class owners are older than C Class owners.

The ultimate choice there would be the upcoming E63S Coupe

Ahem, would an AMG S-class coupe be considered too 'old' or even the AMG GT? How about the Jag F-Type R? New Aston Martin Vantage 3rd quarter 2017? That is if you like coupe designs, which I personally love.

Your old a 41??

C63S Coupe or Shelby GT350R or E63S Coupe-0079-sioux-city.jpg

Here is one of my drag cars from the late 60's so you can guess I am 73 years old and my C63S sedan is my daily driver and I love it.
At 41years I guess you have a hard time getting around.
I did 6 track days last year and a lot of mountain canyon driving here in CA where there are some great roads to explore.
Do what suits you and don't worry what others think.

Guys thanks for all replies and opinions.

My original plan from last week was sell GT350R and order C63S Coupe. I just wanted to wait till the R arrives to make sure its good idea. And that E63 was still in my head as well....

I am coupe guy, no way to buy sedan.

I guess you right about the age. I don't see any new C63 on the road here. Younger people can not afford it and older just buy something else for the money. Because how many people will pay 100K for C class Mercedes....only maniacs like us

Anyway... Yesterday i picked up the 350R from custom warehouse here in Prague. And i drove it back home. The car is like from other world. Its just amazing car. You must see it and drive it to understand. I could not believe how different is the R from standard 350. I had chance to see standard 350 but this one is so much better.... The sound, feeling... all i can say wow Ford I can compare to M4 and it has everything what M4 is missing.... I owned 911 4S 997 in past and the R is clear winner.. If you would have chance to try this car, just do it....

And now i have problem, because i want this car. No way i give it to someone else. I need some time to think about it... its not best daily driver but i can not afford to keep it and buy another DD coupe like C63. Or can i ? :roll eyes:

Funny thing when i was driving the R home, I got call from Mercedes dealer with question when i am going to sign order for C63 I just told them my feeling (they know about the R).. I am going to visit them tomorrow to show them the R and talk.... I need few days to think about it.

And my thoughts about the E63S coupe. If they do it same as with the C, it could be real beast. I mean if the car would be just bigger C63 in terms of look, it would be great. Wider front fenders compare to just introduced E63 sedan, wider rear...

But i am afraid they will be more conservative and the E63 coupe will look more like S63 coupe = no wider fenders, etc... So i seriously think to wait for introduction which should happen in January ?? And can anyone predict price? I was trying to compare with GLE63S coupe (E class is slightly cheaper than GLE class). If the pricing is similar, the E63S coupe might be more expansive aprox. by 20-25K compare C63S coupe (after all discounts,etc.). Do you think its correct?

And attached some pictures of the R from yestersday. Now i am complete American guy ? Shelby, Raptor and my bike Harley Davidson

I was reading all your posts and your car actually convinced me to select Edition 1. And keep the stripe, because it looks great. You have really nice couple with the 911. Its just great to have AMG for week and 911 for weekend, can not afford it otherwise i am there as well...

C63S AMG owner here and I am 24 (came from a C450, 335xi before that, V8 Jeep Grand Cherokee before that). Plenty of people my age (or younger) driving around in far more exotic rides than an AMG or M car in the Boston area. Same goes for Miami.

In my opinion, the tail-happy / tire destroying nature of AMG vehicles combined with the obnoxious orchestra of snarls, cracks, pops, and bangs suites a younger audience far better than the more surgical nature of the M vehicles.

Just my 2 cents.
